Synopsis
Paul wins the Full Battle at Lake Acuity, but not before Ash’s Chimchar evolves into Monferno and learns Mach Punch. Pikachu is burned by Magmortar’s Flame Body and recalled, Buizel is poisoned by Smog and then knocked out by Ursaring’s Focus Blast, and Ursaring’s Hammer Arm defeats Staraptor.
Electabuzz’s Light Screen protects Torterra, whose Frenzy Plant knocks Gliscor out in one blow. Pikachu paralyses Ursaring with Static, but Ursaring’s Guts powers a Hammer Arm that sends Pikachu into the lake. Chimchar then defeats Ursaring with Flame Wheel, Flamethrower and Dig, and glows as it evolves into Monferno.
Monferno’s new Mach Punch slams Electabuzz into a rock and its fiery Counter Shield deflects Thunder, but it is paralysed. Monferno’s flame flares with determination, and Mach Punch and Thunder Punch collide in an explosion; Monferno faints and Paul wins with four Pokémon still standing, leaving Ash stunned by the lopsided defeat as Reggie, Dawn and Brock look on.
