Scarlet & Violet Series
The Paldea era rebuilt the game around Pokémon ex and Terastal Tera Pokémon — and gave collectors some of its most coveted chase cards.
The Scarlet & Violet Series (2023–2025) took the Pokémon TCG to the Paldea region and rebuilt the game around a streamlined new mechanic: Pokémon ex. These evolving powerhouses — worth two Prize cards — sat alongside Terastal-themed Tera Pokémon ex, whose type can shift mid-battle, and the Ancient and Future Paradox Pokémon pulled straight from the video games.
The block launched in March 2023 with the Scarlet & Violet base set and ran through mid-2025, tying in with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on Nintendo Switch and their DLC. It became famous for its chase cards — the lavish Special Illustration Rares — and for blockbuster sets like 151 and Prismatic Evolutions. In September 2025 the era handed off to the current Mega Evolution Series.
