White Flare booster pack

Scarlet & Violet—White Flare is one half of a special paired expansion released worldwide on 18 July 2025, alongside its sister set Black Bolt. Built in the celebrated “151” style, it pairs a compact 86-card main set with a huge run of Illustration Rares and secret rares — 173 cards in all — and returns the spotlight to the Unova region and its Generation V Pokémon. White Flare is the Reshiram-led, Truth-themed half of the pair.

Between them, White Flare and Black Bolt feature every Pokémon originally discovered in Unova. White Flare’s chase cards are headed by Reshiram ex, joined by Keldeo ex, Whimsicott ex, Hydreigon ex, Jellicent ex and Bouffalant ex, plus beautiful full-art Trainers led by Hilda.

The set’s headline rarity is the brand-new Black White Rare — an ultra-premium black-and-white textured finish reserved for just a couple of cards. In White Flare those crown jewels are Victini and a special Reshiram ex.

Let the truth of Unova blaze anew! Scarlet & Violet—White Flare reunites Trainers with the Pokémon of the Unova region in a compact main set backed by a dazzling gallery of Illustration Rares. Reshiram lights the way, with Keldeo ex, Whimsicott ex, Hydreigon ex and Hilda joining the battle — and the all-new Black White Rare finish crowning the very rarest pulls.

Japanese Release & the Dual Set

White Flare is unusual among Scarlet & Violet expansions: it launched in Japan under the very same name — ホワイトフレア (White Flare) — on 6 June 2025, as one half of a paired release with ブラックボルト (Black Bolt). Where most sets are re-cut when they cross to English, the English White Flare is a near 1:1 match for its Japanese counterpart, keeping the same 86-card main set and the same secret-rare run.

One notable difference is the format: in Japan the sets were also sold in full booster boxes (20 packs each), while the English release skipped sealed booster boxes entirely in favour of the Elite Trainer Boxes, bundles and collections below. Its companion is Black Bolt — the Zekrom-led, Ideals-themed half — and every Pokémon of the Unova region is split across the two sets.

For Collectors: Most Valuable Cards

Reshiram ex

Reshiram ex — 173/086 (Black White Rare)

White Flare’s crown jewel. The Black White Rare Reshiram ex wears the set’s signature black-and-white textured finish and is the single most valuable and most-wanted pull in the expansion.

Victini

Victini — 172/086 (Black White Rare)

The only other Black White Rare in White Flare. This tiny-print Victini is an extremely limited chase card and commands a price to match its scarcity.

Reshiram ex

Reshiram ex — 166/086 (Special Illustration Rare)

A breathtaking full-art Reshiram and one of the most striking Special Illustration Rares in the set — a top secondary-market card in its own right.

Hilda

Hilda — 171/086 (Special Illustration Rare)

A gorgeous full-art Supporter starring the fan-favourite Unova protagonist Hilda. Character chase cards like this are perennial collector favourites and hold strong value.

Trivia

  • White Flare and Black Bolt are the first Scarlet & Violet sets built in the “151” style — a small 86-card main set wrapped in a huge Illustration-Rare gallery.
  • Together the two sets contain every Pokémon from the Unova region (Generation V), split across the pair.
  • The set introduces the Black White Rare — a brand-new ultra-premium rarity with a distinctive black-and-white textured finish.
  • White Flare is themed around Reshiram and the concept of Truth; Black Bolt mirrors it with Zekrom and Ideals, echoing the original Pokémon Black & White video games.
  • Of the two sister sets, White Flare has generally been the more valuable: its Reshiram ex Black White Rare and Special Illustration Rares have tended to outprice Black Bolt’s equivalent Zekrom ex cards, giving the “Truth” side a slight edge over “Ideals” in the collector market — a fitting echo of the long-running Reshiram-versus-Zekrom debate.
  • Unusually, no English booster boxes were produced — packs were only sold inside Elite Trainer Boxes, bundles, binders and the shared Unova products.
