Journey Together booster pack

Scarlet & Violet—Journey Together is the ninth main expansion of the Scarlet & Violet era, released worldwide on 28 March 2025. Its 159-card main set (190 including secret rares) is headlined by the return of Trainer’s Pokémon — cards that belong to a specific Trainer, a mechanic first seen back in the Gym Heroes era — putting the spotlight on the Pokémon of N, Hop, Lillie and Iono.

Four Trainer’s Pokémon ex lead the set: N’s Zoroark ex, Hop’s Zacian ex, Lillie’s Clefairy ex and Iono’s Bellibolt ex, each backed by a supporting cast of that character’s other Pokémon. Alongside them, Tera Pokémon ex continue, and fan-favourites like Salamence ex, Volcanion ex, Mamoswine ex and Dudunsparce ex round out the ex line-up.

Journey Together quickly reshaped the competitive format — N’s Zoroark ex paired with N’s Reshiram became one of the season’s defining decks — while collectors chased its beautiful Special Illustration Rares and gold Hyper Rares of the headline Trainer’s Pokémon.

In Scarlet & Violet—Journey Together, players can look forward to the return of Trainer’s Pokémon to the Pokémon TCG. These cards showcase the special bond shared between a powerful Trainer and their Pokémon — with N’s Zoroark ex, Hop’s Zacian ex, Lillie’s Clefairy ex and Iono’s Bellibolt ex leading the charge alongside powerful Tera Pokémon ex. Team up with your favourite characters in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Journey Together expansion!

The set was sold as single boosters, a 36-pack booster box, a Booster Bundle, two Elite Trainer Boxes (a standard version and a Pokémon Center version) and a range of blisters and gift collections.

English version vs. Japanese Variations

In Japan, Journey Together corresponds to the set Battle Partners (sv9), released earlier on 24 January 2025. The two share the same Trainer’s Pokémon line-up and card artwork, though — as always — the Japanese set is smaller and numbered differently to its English counterpart.

For Collectors: Most Valuable Cards

N's Zoroark ex

N’s Zoroark ex — 185/159 (Special Illustration Rare)

The set’s crown jewel. N’s Zoroark ex’s Special Illustration Rare pictures the Illusion Fox beside N himself, and it became Journey Together’s most chased card thanks to both its artwork and its competitive dominance.

Hop's Zacian ex

Hop’s Zacian ex — 186/159 (Special Illustration Rare)

Hop’s Zacian ex’s Special Illustration Rare is a fan-favourite, capturing Hop and the legendary Warrior Pokémon mid-charge — consistently one of the priciest pulls in the set.

Lillie's Clefairy ex

Lillie’s Clefairy ex — 184/159 (Special Illustration Rare)

Lillie’s Clefairy ex pairs a beloved character with an adorable Clefairy in a soft, storybook illustration — a card collectors of the Lillie sub-theme covet.

Salamence ex

Salamence ex — 187/159 (Special Illustration Rare)

Salamence ex’s Special Illustration Rare delivers the set’s big dragon moment, a dynamic full-art piece that rounds out Journey Together’s top-value chase cards.

Most Powerful Cards (Competitive)

N's Zoroark ex

N’s Zoroark ex — 098/159 (Double Rare)

The engine of the format-defining N’s deck. Its Trade Ability digs through your deck one card at a time, while Night Joker copies the attack of one of your Benched N’s Pokémon — most devastatingly N’s Reshiram — for explosive, flexible damage.

N's Reshiram

N’s Reshiram — 116/159 (Rare)

The N’s deck’s hitter. Powerful Rage scales with the damage already on it, and Virtuous Flame swings for big numbers — copied by N’s Zoroark ex, it turns the archetype into a relentless attacker.

Hop's Zacian ex

Hop’s Zacian ex — 111/159 (Double Rare)

An aggressive Metal attacker: Insta-Strike chips the Bench while Brave Slash hits for a massive 250, letting Hop’s Zacian ex trade into almost anything in the format.

Salamence ex

Salamence ex — 114/159 (Double Rare)

A hard-hitting Dragon ex — Dragon Impact deals 200 for two discarded Energy, and Wide Blast spreads 50 to the whole Bench, giving Salamence ex both single-target and spread pressure.

Trivia

  • Journey Together brings back Trainer’s Pokémon — cards tied to a specific named Trainer — for the first time in the modern era; the mechanic originally debuted in the Gym Heroes expansion back in 2000.
  • It is the first main Scarlet & Violet set built around named Trainers’ teams, spotlighting N, Hop, Lillie and Iono.
  • N’s Zoroark ex, paired with N’s Reshiram, became one of the most dominant decks of the 2025 competitive season.
  • The 190-card set includes six Special Illustration Rares and three gold Hyper Rares of its headline Trainer’s Pokémon.
  • In Japan the set released earlier as Battle Partners (sv9) on 24 January 2025.
