Synopsis

Ash defeats Conway’s Trick Room strategy in the third round as Gible finally masters Draco Meteor. In training Infernape learns Flare Blitz against Brock’s Sudowoodo, while Conway secretly observes. In the battle, his Shuckle, its Attack boosted by Power Trick, knocks out Noctowl and Donphan with Gyro Ball.

Ash’s Gible shrugs off Sludge Bomb and defeats Shuckle with a perfect Draco Meteor, and the returning Noctowl outflies Lickilicky’s Power Whip and Thunderbolt to win with Extrasensory. Then Conway’s Dusknoir sets up Trick Room, which lets slower Pokémon move first, and defeats Noctowl with Thunder Punch and the trapped Donphan with Shadow Punch.

Gible, Ash’s last Pokémon, is driven into the ground but surfaces beneath Dusknoir, bites its fist, launches it skyward with Draco Meteor and finishes it with Dragon Pulse. Ash advances to the quarter-finals against Paul, and Tobias advances too. That night, as Cynthia watches the rivals’ tension, Professor Oak returns Buizel, and Gliscor swoops down from the moonlit sky to rejoin Ash.
