A Village Homecoming! is the 3rd episode of Pokémon: BW Adventures in Unova and Beyond, the sixteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 753rd episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 758, Bulbapedia code BW100). It first aired in Japan on 25 October 2012 and in the United States on 16 February 2013. It falls within the season’s On the road to Vertress stretch (EP98–EP102).
Synopsis
Iris returns to the Village of Dragons, where she calms a newly evolved, panicking Hydreigon and is challenged by her former teacher, Drayden, to come to his Opelucid Gym. Ash and Cilan meet the village elder, who praises the care Iris has given Axew, while her Dragonite promptly picks a fight with a Haxorus.
Iris’s childhood friend Shannon, who raises two Zweilous, confesses that she feels ordinary and stuck in the village, and Iris urges her to start a journey of her own. One of the Zweilous then evolves into Hydreigon at the lake; frightened by its reflection and its new strength, it rampages through the village with Draco Meteor.
Emolga and Dragonite herd it against the cliffs, and Axew’s Dragon Rage and Excadrill’s Focus Blast break through its defences so Iris can climb up behind it. Thrown off twice and bitten on both wrists, she holds on, soothes it and returns it to Shannon, while the elder tells the boys not to interfere. Drayden, whom Iris has been avoiding, praises her growth and invites her to Opelucid, and Shannon finally asks the elder for permission to travel.
