Synopsis
Food keeps vanishing from Cerise Park, and as the hungry Pokémon split into rival groups and a brawl breaks out, the seal on Goh’s giant Golurk falls off and unleashes a storm that threatens Goh’s three Cascoon. Goh and Raboot feed and groom the park’s residents while Ash trains Riolu’s Vacuum Wave against Mimey’s Reflect, until Goh reminds him that he is supposed to be helping and assigns him to brush Darmanitan’s teeth. Beedrill finds its tray empty and angrily confronts Oddish and Nidoran♀, Stantler and Nidoran♂ step in to protect them, and Grimer, also unfed, picks a quarrel with some Bug types. Over the following days the food keeps disappearing and tempers rise. Ash blames Gengar, which promptly hits him with a Shadow Ball. Professor Cerise explains that the park’s Pokémon have formed communities—the Water types in the pond, a group around Golurk, and loners Misdreavus and Sandile—and fears that the large Bug group and the Normal and Poison types could clash. The boys decide to spend the night in the park.
Misdreavus pranks Parasect, a hungry Sandile is blasted by Darmanitan’s Overheat, and the two outcasts team up after dodging Scyther’s Air Slash, while Goh’s three Cascoon sleep deeply and begin to glow as they prepare to evolve. Ash and Goh’s overnight watch over trays of food sees nothing, yet by morning the food is gone, and Butterfree and Venomoth’s Stun Spore and Grimer’s Poison Gas spark a full brawl that Pikachu, Riolu and Raboot cannot stop. Dragonite carries the boys and their Pokémon to a high spot so the park can settle things itself, and the battle grows into a four-sided fight: Scyther blocks Darmanitan’s Overheat, Misdreavus and Sandile fake a tree-snapping display and then switch to the Bug side, and Dewgong fires a warning Ice Beam.
When Scyther deflects an Overheat towards the sleeping Cascoon, Golurk blocks it, but the seal on its chest falls off, releasing a red beam of uncontrollable energy that brings dark clouds and a downpour. While Pikachu’s Iron Tail and Raboot’s Ember distract the giant—Riolu’s Fighting moves have no effect on it—Cubone, Skwovet, Pidgey and Farfetch’d carry the seal back, and Farfetch’d and Cubone hammer its two rivets into place. The storm continues, however, and floodwater from a broken dam threatens the Cascoon’s tree; Golurk and Dragonite hold it steady while Dewgong and Tentacool freeze the water, and all the Pokémon put aside their quarrel to support it. The Cascoon glow and evolve into three Dustox, whose Sunny Day clears the sky. As Ash and Goh gather food, a landslide exposes a hidden hoard, and Skwovet—the real culprit—returns to add to it. Goh’s Pokédex confirms that storing food is natural for Skwovet, so the boys decide to increase the park’s food supply to keep everyone fed.
