Synopsis
In the Season 24 finale, Ash, Goh, Chloe and Dawn team up with their alternate-world selves to stop a battle between Dialga and Palkia that an alternate Team Rocket provoked, and Arceus appears to restore both worlds. In the alternate Canalave City, the alternate Ash hugs Pikachu tearfully, explaining that his own Pikachu has turned into an Egg as if time were running backward, and the group rides Dragonite and Gengar to Sandgem Town. There a “Professor Rowan” is loading the Pokémon Center’s Eggs into a truck until the real alternate Rowan appears, exposing the impostor and his assistant as the alternate Jessie and James, who escape with the Eggs while their Meowth holds the others back. The reversal strikes before any attack lands, turning Pikachu into a Pichu and Cinderace into a Raboot, so everyone recalls their Pokémon to slow it. Rowan warns that the reversal will affect people too and directs them to the Spear Pillar atop Mount Coronet; Dragonite and Gengar devolve as soon as they appear, so Goh’s Flygon and Aerodactyl fly the group there.
The regular Team Rocket arrive in the alternate world through a Gate, where Meowth starts losing his speech and Wobbuffet reverts to Wynaut. Meanwhile the alternate Ash and Dawn are joined by the alternate Goh and Chloe, who wear protective armour built after Chloe hacked Team Rocket’s database. At the Spear Pillar, Ash and his friends leap through a Gate into a dark dimension where Dialga and Palkia are locked in battle. The alternate Team Rocket appear, and when Ash and Goh send out their Pokémon, the reversal instantly turns them into Eggs; Lucario and Inteleon are devolving in Team Rocket’s cage. The alternate Jessie and James reveal that they provoked the fight using the Red Chain, which holds Arceus’s power, planning to gather every reverted Pokémon and Egg, capture the exhausted Legendaries and conquer the world. The alternate Ash, Dawn, Goh and Chloe arrive to help, and the two Ashes go after the Red Chain.
A massive surge of Dialga’s power shatters the armour, blasts the alternate Team Rocket through a Gate, turns Ash, his friends and their counterparts into toddlers, and reduces all their Pokémon to Eggs. With no Pokémon left, Ash proposes sending their feelings to Dialga and Palkia, and the alternate Ash suggests appealing to Arceus as well. Through Gates in both worlds, people pray for their Pokémon to return, and a radiant Arceus emerges from the Red Chain, makes it vanish and ends the battle. Dialga and Palkia undo the damage and send the group to the alternate Sandgem Town, where everyone returns to their proper age, their Pokémon are restored, Lucario and Inteleon included, and Meowth can speak again. Saying goodbye to their counterparts, Ash and his friends are sent home, where everything is back to normal and they rush to greet Cynthia, unaware that Team Rocket are secretly following them, while in the dark dimension Dialga and Palkia go their separate ways.
