Synopsis
When Goh’s Heracross falls for his new Lilligant, Goh joins Chloe at Erika’s flower-arranging class at the Celadon Gym to help his jilted Pinsir win back its partner’s heart. Back at Cerise Park after a trip to Unova, Goh introduces his Pokémon to his newest friend, Lilligant, whose sweet scent soothes everyone, and Heracross is especially smitten. Pinsir arrives with a flower wreath it has made for Heracross, only to find it fawning over someone else, and Goh notices how dejected it is. He and Ash then overhear Chloe telling Professor Cerise that she and Eevee will join a Pokémon flower-arranging class in Celadon City to meet a Leafeon, and Goh decides to go too, hoping that flower skills will help Pinsir. At the Celadon Gym, the trio meet Gym Leader Erika, who remembers Ash from the fire that once damaged her Gym, when he saved her Gloom. She explains that the Gym studies the scents of flowers and Pokémon to create perfumes.
Chloe says Eevee is still undecided about evolving and is gathering experiences, and Eevee copies the poses of Erika’s Leafeon. In the greenhouse, Erika explains that flower arranging expresses the bond between Pokémon and Trainers, and when Goh admits he wants to use flowers to make his Pokémon fall in love, she warmly offers her support. Team Rocket join the class in disguise, pretending to decorate Meowth and Wobbuffet while waiting for a chance to grab Pikachu. Erika asks everyone to prepare a performance showing off their Pokémon’s traits: Ash raids a box of Christmas decorations, and Goh plans a routine with Grookey. As the presentations begin, Team Rocket slip out to “pick flowers” and call the Rocket Prize Master, who sends them a Lurantis and a Leavanny. Inside, Eevee wears flowers like Erika’s Leafeon, Pikachu lights up its Christmas lights with Thunderbolt, Pinsir models a flowery dress, and Grookey makes its buds bloom.
Goh reveals that he has brought Heracross to see Pinsir’s costume, but Leavanny’s String Shot suddenly snatches Pikachu and Team Rocket drop their disguises. Erika’s Leafeon cuts the threads with Razor Leaf, and Pikachu frees itself with Iron Tail. Heracross trades blows with Lurantis, while Eevee uses Copycat to mimic Leafeon’s Razor Leaf and, with Pikachu’s Thunderbolt, defeats Leavanny. Lurantis drives Heracross back with Petal Blizzard and charges a Solar Beam, but Pinsir leaps in front of Heracross and takes the full blast. Goh orders X-Scissor, and Pinsir sends Lurantis flying into Team Rocket, blasting them off. Pinsir’s flower costume is ruined, but its courage wins back Heracross’s affection. As the group leaves, Erika gives Chloe a bottle of Leafeon perfume, and when Heracross shyly reaches for Pinsir’s hand, the flustered Pinsir clamps it in a pincer hug, startling both Heracross and Goh.
