GO FOR DREAM! Go’s Road to Mew!! is the 36th Japanese episode of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series, the twenty-fifth season of the Pokémon anime, and Japanese episode 1212 overall (Bulbapedia code JN126). It has never been dubbed into English. It first aired in Japan on 23 September 2022. It falls within the season’s The Masters Eight: semifinals stretch (EP121–EP128).
Never dubbed or released in English: a Japan-only clip show (TV Tokyo, 23 September 2022), skipped like all four of the season’s clip shows, so Netflix goes straight from JN125 to JN127. Read more about the four undubbed clip shows.
Synopsis
In this Japan-only clip show, a mysterious figure unlocks Goh’s Rotom Phone in the hotel room he and Ash share in Wyndon and looks back at Goh’s journey towards Mew, before the snooper is revealed to be his Grookey. At the Rose of the Rondelands hotel, Goh has left his Rotom Phone on the table. When Quillon calls, a shadowy figure ignores the call, works out the passcode, 5555 (a pun on Goh’s name, since “five” can be read “go” in Japanese), and begins scrolling through photos and videos of Goh’s Inteleon. As in the two previous clip shows, no main character appears in person outside the recaps; it is the first time more than two regularly broadcast clip shows have aired in a single series, and the episode was never dubbed or broadcast outside Japan.
The images lead to a flashback of Inteleon’s life as a timid Sobble: how it was awed by the actress Jacqueline’s Inteleon at a film shoot in Vermilion City and copied its Snipe Shot (JN054), and how, as a Drizzile hunting a data-stealing Kecleon at the Cerise Laboratory, it finally evolved into Inteleon when Goh vowed to protect it (JN078). Quillon calls again, and this time the figure hangs up and opens a message from Danika about Project Mew, which restates the research team’s goal of finding the Mythical Pokémon and names its five Chasers: Quillon, Danika, Goh, Gary and Horace. After one more call from Quillon, the figure is shown to be Grookey, Goh’s mischievous partner, which has been playing with the phone all along.
The narrator then hosts another of his radio programmes to read listener mail. A letter from Chloe introduces a recap of Scorbunny’s evolution into Raboot (JN017), after it turned a Quick Attack on a stone into a fiery projectile against Team Rocket and then walked past Goh’s offered fist bump. A letter from Horace leads into two of Goh’s latest adventures: the Articuno Raid Battle in the Seafoam Islands (JN102) and the final Trial Mission in which Goh and Cinderace helped catch Regieleki and Regidrago (JN113), both featuring Cinderace prominently. The clip show closes with a storybook-style retelling of Grookey’s first errand (JN069), when it carried supplements to the Cerise Laboratory, got sidetracked by a Geodude and Team Rocket and finally collapsed into Goh’s arms at the gate. Ash, Goh, Cinderace and Pikachu narrate the preview of the next episode.
