Synopsis

On the eve of the final, Goh entrusts his Eternatus to Leon and revisits the Wyndon scone stall where his journey with Cinderace began, helping the reformed Nickit trio defeat a Perrserker gang and Team Rocket before an urgent Project Mew summons calls him away from Ash. At Wyndon Stadium, Professor Magnolia, Sonia and Leon greet Ash and Goh, and Leon releases Eternatus, which Goh handed over to Magnolia after it was subdued. Magnolia and Sonia explain that because Eternatus is tied to the Galar particles that make Dynamax possible, they hoped it could live alongside Galar’s people, and Leon has been accustoming it to human contact. Seeing how relaxed it is with Leon, Goh asks the Champion to look after it, hoping to become a Trainer it will accept someday, and Leon agrees before leaving, promising not to get lost on the way to the final. Ash plans to rest his team rather than train, but the smell of scones draws Cinderace out of its Poké Ball.

At the stall where Goh and Scorbunny first met, the vendor meets the evolved Cinderace just as three Galarian Zigzagoon try to steal a woman’s scones, and the Nickit trio Cinderace once lived with step in to save them. The vendor explains that the Nickit have given up stealing, now help people and punish bullies, and have become local favourites, and they leap into Cinderace’s arms. Goh reflects that his whole dream took shape here, when he chose Scorbunny as his first partner instead of waiting for Mew. Meanwhile, two Galarian Meowth and their boss, a Perrserker, rob the Zigzagoon, and Team Rocket try to recruit Perrserker, only to end up flattering it as it takes charge. When Perrserker’s gang grabs people’s bags, the Nickit give chase and are caught in one of Team Rocket’s nets. Passing the fountain where he caught Sobble, Goh sends out Inteleon, whose infrared vision tracks the trail to an alley.

Cinderace frees the Nickit, and Team Rocket decide to steal Ash’s Pokémon on the spot, calling the Rocket Prize Master for a Hattrem and a Morgrem and then using the Meowth’s coins on another machine to summon Stonjourner, Dubwool, Arrokuda and Cramorant. Goh asks Ash to leave the fight to him and the Nickit. Cramorant’s Gulp Missile pelts Cinderace and Inteleon with Arrokuda until Grookey jumps on it, and the Nickit evolve into Thievul and overpower Perrserker’s gang, breaking its claws. One by one Team Rocket’s rented Pokémon fall, and when they try to feed Perrserker’s oversized coin into the machine, the Thievul snatch it away and help Cinderace blast the trio off, in what proves to be their last use of the Rocket Prize Master. Back at the stall, everyone shares a celebratory pile of scones. On the way to the hotel, Goh receives an urgent summons from Project Mew and must miss the final, and the friends share a fist bump, promising to chase their dreams and smile when they next meet.
