Synopsis
Rescued by Friede and brought aboard the airship Brave Olivine, Liko meets the Rising Volt Tacklers, but when the Explorers storm the ship she finds her courage in battle, only for her Sprigatito to be blown overboard and carried off by Amethio. Inside the green sphere, Liko glimpses a strange Pokémon floating before her before it shrinks back into her pendant and she and Sprigatito begin to fall, caught just in time by Friede and Charizard. Friede tells Amethio their battle will have to wait and flies off, while Amethio, Zirc and Onia give chase on a Corviknight and two Skarmory. Overwhelmed, Liko asks to be set down, but Charizard is already landing on the wing deck of the Brave Olivine, where Murdock and Mollie scold Friede for keeping her in the dark. A Fuecoco and a Pawmi from Paldea greet her, and Murdock explains that Pokémon from many regions have joined the crew, which convinces Liko that these people are probably not villains.
With the Explorers closing in and a great storm ahead, Friede posts Noctowl as lookout, sends Charizard to help Orla in the engine room and takes the helm from Captain Pikachu, steering straight into the storm. A blackout leaves the wing deck stuck open, and as Mollie goes out to crank it shut by hand the Explorers break through the deck’s barrier. Liko, feeling guilty that the Pokémon are in danger because of her pendant, is found by Amethio, who asks why she ran and what the pendant’s glow meant. When Onia restrains Sprigatito, Liko offers to surrender if the Pokémon are left alone, and Amethio decides to take her along too. Friede bursts in on Charizard, introduces himself as leader of the Rising Volt Tacklers and sends out Captain Pikachu, whose Double Team copies fool Ceruledge’s Psycho Cut and Bitter Blade before Pikachu calls down a lightning bolt and strikes with a mighty Volt Tackle.
Amethio’s answering Psycho Cut is deflected into the room full of the ship’s Pokémon, and Liko, desperate to stop anyone else getting hurt, prepares to give herself up. Sprigatito leaps from her arms and cries out in defiance, and Liko realises she has been fooling herself. She stands up to Amethio and orders Leafage, and Sprigatito unleashes a blast so powerful that both Friede and Amethio are stunned; Liko is thrilled to have used a real move with her partner at last. The attack, however, shatters the barrier around the wing deck, and the storm winds rush in. Friede grabs Liko before she is blown away, but Sprigatito is swept overboard. Amethio orders a retreat, and as the Explorers pull away one of them snatches Sprigatito out of the air. Liko can only scream her partner’s name as it is carried off into the storm.
