Synopsis
Roy sneaks aboard the Brave Olivine to spend more time with Fuecoco, and when the Explorers track the damaged airship to his island, he and Fuecoco find their rhythm through song as it lands its first Ember. Late at night Captain Pikachu catches Roy creeping up to the ship and gives him a shock that wakes the whole crew. Roy apologises and explains that he wants to be with Fuecoco, and Friede, though reminding him that a partnership depends on Fuecoco’s feelings too, lets him stay the night. Liko leads Roy around the ship, but Fuecoco is fast asleep in a food storeroom and never hears the song Roy sings for it. Resting on the wing deck, Roy wonders what Fuecoco really thinks of him, and Liko reassures him from her own experience with Sprigatito. In the morning, Orla, who has spent the night patching the gasbag, warns that the holes now threaten the keel.
Roy suggests asking the island’s wild Pokémon and his grandfather for help, and the crew begins moving the ship to the beach; before leaving, Roy sets out Oran Berries for Fuecoco, which leaps off the moving airship to look for him once Mollie explains who left them. Roy’s grandfather turns out to be the village elder Friede met the day before; he scolds Roy, then serves dango and Moomoo Milk, and the shape of the dango gives Friede the idea of patching the gasbag with Caterpie and Weedle’s silk, with Scyther to cut the threads. Searching for Roy, Fuecoco reaches a beach and spots the Explorers’ submarine. Amethio, insisting they want only Liko and her pendant, sends Zirc and Onia to distract the crew while he goes after her. Fuecoco runs to warn its friends, passing Roy’s house, and Friede rushes to the beach, where Amethio challenges him to a battle.
Seeing Amethio in the distance, Liko, Roy and his grandfather head into the forest to ask the Bug-type Pokémon for help, and they agree. When Onia intercepts them, Liko sends Roy ahead and takes her on alone, winning her first battle off screen. At the beach, Murdock and Orla guide the Bug-type Pokémon aboard, and Caterpie and Weedle seal the gasbag’s leaks with String Shot until the Brave Olivine stabilises. Mollie’s Chansey struggles against Zirc’s Rhydon, and Fuecoco, eager to be as cool as Charizard, steps in with Roy, but it cannot produce even one Ember. Liko arrives and tells Roy to share his feelings with his partner, so he begins singing their song, and Fuecoco finally blasts Rhydon with Ember. The moment distracts Friede; Amethio breaks away, kicks up a cloud of dust with Corviknight and dives straight at Liko to seize her.
