Synopsis
While the storm-grounded Brave Olivine waits in a forest, Liko and Mollie follow an injured Tandemaus into a collapsing cave to rescue its trapped family, where Hatenna learns Heal Pulse and the “Tandemaus” turn out to be a Maushold that moves aboard the ship. After a storm forces the airship down on its way to Paldea, Roy fetches Orla to sew the damaged flag while Mollie holds Pokémon check-ups. Liko brings in Hatenna, which has felt off since the storm, and it takes an instant liking to Mollie’s Chansey, which gives it a soft towel. Charizard, Slugma and Carkol stagger in exhausted from the engine room, and Charizard perks up after one of Chansey’s eggs. When Mollie removes a thorn from Shuckle’s leg and Chansey eases the pain with Heal Pulse, Hatenna is so excited by the move that it wants to learn it. Then Hatenna runs outside and leads Liko and Mollie to an injured Tandemaus, which, according to the Pokédex, should never be far from a partner.
Mollie treats it as an emergency, but the Tandemaus leaps from Chansey’s arms and leads them to a cave blocked by a fallen tree, where its partner is trapped. Sprigatito and the Tandemaus dig out the gap beneath the trunk, but only Liko is small enough to squeeze through. She hands the partner out to Mollie, then hears more crying from deeper inside and, over Mollie’s objections, goes after it, leaving Hatenna outside because the situation seems too much for it. Hatenna asks Chansey for help and brings Liko one of its eggs, carried in Mollie’s towel. At a fork in the tunnel, the Tandemaus collapses from exhaustion, and Hatenna, trembling, senses strong emotions to the right, where Liko finds two smaller, very weak Tandemaus just as the ceiling caves in and Sprigatito’s Leafage shields them.
The way they came in has collapsed, and the weakened Tandemaus are too exhausted even to eat the egg. Remembering how Hatenna tried to copy Chansey, Liko suggests Heal Pulse, and after waving its arms, Hatenna learns the move and revives them. Outside, Mollie rallies the whole crew to tie a rope around the tree and pull it aside, then hears Liko calling from a new hole: the Tandemaus have gnawed an escape through the rock. Mollie hugs Liko in relief and praises Hatenna, which promptly collapses from exhaustion. Back aboard, with the flag repaired, Mollie, Hatenna and Chansey chase the rescued Pokémon, which has made a new home on the ship, around the infirmary, and Liko’s Pokédex reveals that the family they saved was a single Maushold, Family of Four, not Tandemaus at all; Mollie, focused on her patient, never considered it.
