Pokémon began as a pair of Game Boy cartridges – Pocket Monsters Red and Green, released in Japan on 27 February 1996 – and has grown into one of the biggest video game series ever made, with well over 480 million copies sold. The main series has run for nine generations so far, each one introducing a new region and a new batch of Pokémon to catch, trade and battle, and it has been joined along the way by dozens of spin-offs: stadium battlers, pinball tables, photo safaris, dungeon crawlers, puzzle games, a trading card simulator and, since 2016, a steady stream of mobile games.
This section has a page for every game we have catalogued: what it is, when and where it was released, how it plays, what the critics made of it, and links to our box art, screenshots and official artwork galleries for it. The main series is listed first, generation by generation, followed by the spin-offs grouped by the console they appeared on. Games that only have a box art gallery so far are marked page coming soon.
