Synopsis

On their way to Montenevera, the trio enjoy Glaseado Mountain’s snow, and Roy and Fuecoco, separated in a snowstorm, find each other again by singing their song. After shopping for winter clothes (Dot’s bulky coat makes Liko joke that she looks like Nidothing, and Roy, who has never seen snow, plans to rely on gloves alone), they pass through a tunnel onto the snowy mountain. Roy and Fuecoco revel in the snow, and Floragato, though struggling with the cold, leads Liko to a Berry bush where a Bergmite is eating; her Rotom Phone says Bergmite tends to fight Frigibax. When snow lands on Fuecoco, the Bergmite mistakes him for a Frigibax and grows angry, and then a real Frigibax arrives. The two Ice types clash, blasting cold air that whips up a blizzard; Fuecoco’s Flamethrower cannot stop it, and Dot’s attempt to distract them with Quaxwell’s dancing fails. Drawn by the strong emotions, Liko’s Hattrem pummels both into submission with Brutal Swing and then heals them with Heal Pulse, and the two walk away from each other.

The friends skate on a frozen pond, make snow angels, toast marshmallows and build a snowman resembling Captain Pikachu, which Roy photographs. Then Roy backs nervously away from an angry Beartic and knocks over its Cubchoo, which starts to cry; Liko and Dot use their Pokémon’s attacks to blind the furious Beartic so everyone can escape. In a mountain cabin they warm up and Roy looks through his photos of the journey. Montenevera is still far away, so they decide to spend the night and split up to gather firewood, agreeing to be back before dark and to avoid Beartic’s territory. Seeing Kilowattrel praised for bringing in firewood, Fuecoco decides to help too, but he trips, drops his sticks into a trench and falls in after them. As snow begins to fall, Roy searches with Kilowattrel, finds only a snow-covered Frigibax that he briefly mistakes for Fuecoco, and realises he has been walking in circles when he passes the snowman again. Just as Roy and Fuecoco come within sight of each other, a pile of snow buries Fuecoco, and Beartic’s distant roar sends Roy running.

Liko and Dot return to the cabin with their firewood and wonder where Roy is. As night falls, Roy and Fuecoco, each alone and sad, lift their spirits by singing their song, and Roy’s voice guides Fuecoco to him for a tearful reunion. On the way back they find a Frigibax and a Cubchoo eating Berries, with a Beartic nearby and a Bergmite approaching. To head off another fight, Roy disguises the Frigibax as Fuecoco with a red scarf, which works until more snow falls on Fuecoco and makes him look like a Frigibax again; then Fuecoco sneezes, and the snow on him looks like a Cubchoo, which calms the Bergmite. Everyone shares Berries, and Roy and Fuecoco return to the cabin. When he finishes his story, Dot asks about the firewood he was supposed to bring, and Roy realises he forgot it, deciding that cuddling with Fuecoco will keep them warm. After a night’s sleep the trio set out for Montenevera, with Roy and Fuecoco more confident about the test ahead.
