Synopsis
Guided by Perrin, the group climbs Tengu Mountain in search of Lucius’s Kleavor, getting split up by wild Pokémon before reuniting at a rock covered in the warrior’s slash marks. Dot tires quickly on the climb, and during a rest Perrin explains that she has loved photographing Pokémon since childhood and became a travelling professional, using Friede’s map app to find subjects; she cannot recall exactly where she saw Kleavor, since it attacked and drove her off. When she doubts that children should face such danger, Friede replies that they are growing stronger alongside their Pokémon. In a rocky clearing, Crocalor reaches for a Sitrus Berry and he and Roy fall through a sinkhole into a narrow fissure; unhurt but unable to climb out, Roy follows a cave, promising to find another way up. Above, a pack of Houndoom and Houndour attacks the others for trespassing, and as Captain Pikachu and Charizard fight them off, Liko and Floragato run down a different path and lose the group.
Perrin senses she has been in this part of the woods before when a Trevenant hypnotises her and Dot with Confuse Ray, leaving them walking in circles until Quaxwell trips on a pebble, snaps out of it and slaps them awake; Perrin realises that Trevenant used the same move on her earlier. Trevenant walls them in with trees, so the two close their eyes and, on Dot’s signal, combine Growlithe’s Ember and Quaxwell’s Water Gun into a cloud of steam that blinds it before Air Cutter sends the Ghost and Grass type fleeing. Underground, Roy and Crocalor follow a stream carrying Berries to a grove full of Berry trees. Friede drives off the Houndoom pack and sets out to find everyone. Liko keeps finding Kleavor’s slash marks, some fresher than others, and sends out Hattrem to sense the mountain’s emotions; Hattrem stays calm, suggesting that Kleavor is calm too. Dot, meanwhile, identifies a plant in Perrin’s photo of Kleavor that grows near a rock shaped like a Dugtrio, and leads Perrin there.
Climbing a cliff on vines, Roy and Crocalor are attacked halfway up by a territorial Shiftry and Mandibuzz. Roy sends out Kilowattrel and Crocalor rides on its back; Shiftry’s Whirlwind only charges Kilowattrel’s wings, and its Spark hits the pair but paralyses Crocalor too, so Roy keeps Kilowattrel dodging and circling until Crocalor’s super-effective Disarming Voice sends the wild Pokémon fleeing. At the Dugtrio Rock, Dot admits that she used to dislike exploring outdoors but that meeting new people and Pokémon has changed her mind, and Perrin, who had been in a creative slump, says seeing Kleavor inspired her to take more imaginative photos and urges Dot to treasure their adventures. The others arrive at a clearing of trees and rocks covered in slash marks, and Friede notes that the children each found their own way up the mountain and reunited, proof of how much they have grown. As they move on, Kleavor watches unseen from atop the Dugtrio Rock; Terapagos senses it and peeks out of Liko’s bag, but Kleavor has already vanished.
