The Stolen Stones! is the 33rd episode of Pokémon: Johto League Champions, the fourth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 190th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 192, Bulbapedia code EP190). It first aired in Japan on 22 March 2001 and in the United States on 16 February 2002. It falls within the season’s Westward with Todd: Snowtop Mountain & Articuno stretch (EP184–EP191).
Synopsis
Ash learns to ride an Arcanine while helping two sibling couriers recover a stash of Fire Stones from Team Rocket. A canyon rockslide is averted by the Arcanine of Ramona and her younger brother Keegan, couriers carrying Fire Stones to be given away at a Fire-type competition. They offer the gang a lift to Olivine, and Keegan gives Ash a riding lesson that ends with him thrown off but undeterred.
Team Rocket crash in by rocket, snatch the stones with a rubber hand that also neutralises Pikachu’s electricity, and flee on a tandem bike; the pursuing Arcanine skid into a pitfall. The trio then split up to divide their pursuers: James lures Brock, Misty and Ramona into a hole with a decoy bag, while Jessie baits Ash and Keegan into a sham battle and another pit, where Keegan injures his arm and Pikachu is caged.
With the competition deadline looming, Keegan talks Ash through riding Arcanine as a partner rather than a mount, and the pair track Pikachu’s scent to Team Rocket’s victory feast. Wobbuffet’s Counter repels Take Down and the trio lift off, but the Arcanine race up Onix like a ramp to torch the balloon with Fire Spin. Keegan’s Arcanine Take Downs Arbok, Pikachu’s Thunderbolt sends them flying, and the stones arrive on time.

- The Who’s That Pokémon? segment features Arcanine in Japan, where it almost always matched the episode, but Gloom in the US, where 4Kids picked the Pokémon at random.
Changes in the English Dub
