Historical Mystery Tour! is the 35th episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 602nd episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 607, Bulbapedia code DP140). It first aired in Japan on 27 August 2009 and in the United States on 16 January 2010. It falls within the season’s South through Twinleaf Town stretch (EP134–EP142).
Synopsis
At the Twinleaf Festival, Ash, Dawn and Barry enter a mysterious tent and relive the first days of their journeys in a Xatu’s illusion, then meet Barry’s father, Palmer. Barry challenges Ash to a practice battle, and the trio chase a Xatu to a tent where a clown says past, present and future are connected.
A flash leaves each of them alone among giant Pokémon. Ash relives the Spearow attack from his first day, Dawn her rescue of Piplup from the Ariados, and Barry the day he caught Heracross with honey, each following a Natu. Meanwhile Brock’s booth attracts nobody, and James wins a Goldeen-scooping duel that brings customers to Team Rocket’s stall.
Reunited, the three face a giant Camerupt, and Barry suggests hitting the rings on its sides; Heracross and Piplup open them, and Pikachu’s Thunderbolt causes an explosion. They find themselves outside the tent with a Xatu, and Palmer explains that Xatu can see the past and future. Brock is still waiting for customers.
