Synopsis
Zoey narrowly defeats Dawn in the Sinnoh Grand Festival final to become Top Coordinator. Dawn’s Piplup and Togekiss face Zoey’s Glameow and newly evolved Gallade, Pokémon neither rival has seen before, while Johanna watches from the stands.
Shadow Claw and Psycho Cut dazzle the judges, Glameow’s Fake Out stops Hydro Pump, and Togekiss answers Vacuum Wave with Air Slash and blocks a Thunderbolt with Safeguard. Glameow rides on Togekiss’s back and Gallade’s Psycho Cut drops Dawn to a fifth of her points. Dawn’s fiery Peck-and-Sky-Attack combination brings the scores level, and it collides with an electrified Psycho Cut launched from Glameow’s tail.
When time runs out, Zoey is slightly ahead and receives the Ribbon Cup. Dawn is disappointed but proud, returns her mother’s good-luck Ribbon, and decides to keep travelling with Ash. Jessie throws away her Jessilina costume and quits Contests, Zoey leaves for Snowpoint City, and Nurse Joy relays Volkner’s message that the repaired Sunyshore Gym is ready for Ash’s rematch.
