Synopsis
Professor Juniper’s runaway Oshawott officially becomes Ash’s Pokémon on the road to Striaton City, just before a herd of Sandile led by a sunglasses-wearing leader drags the group into danger. Oshawott pushes Pikachu off Ash’s shoulder and dodges his Poké Ball, which fails because it is already registered to Juniper’s ball; she transfers that ball to Ash, and Oshawott promptly runs off.
Searching for it, Ash and Iris fall into a pit and are rescued by Dan, whose family’s hot-sand spa has been ruined by holes since the Sandile in sunglasses arrived. The leader seizes Axew, Pikachu and Oshawott and flees, and when Team Rocket catch it with a crane, the herd’s mass Dig drives them off.
The Sandile turn out to be guiding wild Pokémon away from erupting geysers. When the group find Pokémon stranded on a crumbling rock in boiling water, the Sandile lock tails to form a bridge, Ash crosses to calm them, and Oshawott’s Water Gun and Iris’s quick grab save him. The geysers leave behind a hot spring that becomes the resort’s new attraction.
