Synopsis
In Striaton City Ash learns that the restaurant’s three waiters, Cilan, Chili and Cress, are the city’s Gym Leaders, and he challenges all three for the Trio Badge. Cilan, a Pokémon Connoisseur, leads Ash and Iris to the Gym, where Chili and Cress smother Ash with food until he demands a battle and the lights reveal who they really are.
Tepig takes on Chili’s Pansear first, surviving Fire Punch, Flamethrower and Dig before biting its tail, spinning it around and finishing it with Ember and Tackle. Cress’s Panpour then defeats Pikachu with Double Team, Scratch, Water Gun and Mud Sport. Meanwhile, Giovanni orders Team Rocket to seize the mysterious Future Energy at the Dreamyard.
For the deciding round Ash sends Oshawott against Cilan’s Pansage. Oshawott cowers behind Ash until he and Pikachu encourage it, but Pansage dodges its attacks and its Water Gun keeps missing. When a jet finally lands, Cilan answers with Solar Beam, and the stunned Oshawott can only watch the beam come at it.
