Emolga and the New Volt Switch! is the 25th episode of Pokémon: Black & White, the fourteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 678th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 683, Bulbapedia code BW025). It first aired in Japan on 31 March 2011 and in the United States on 23 July 2011. It falls within the season’s Emolga, Bianca & Iris’s dragons stretch (EP24–EP33).
Synopsis
Iris’s new Emolga turns a battle with Bianca into chaos by using Volt Switch to pull other Trainers’ Pokémon into the fight. It stops Bianca’s Pignite and Minccino with Attract, then swaps itself out for Excadrill, Cilan’s Pansage and finally Ash’s Snivy, whose Vine Whip frees it from a tree before Emolga shocks everyone except Snivy with Discharge.
At lunch Emolga charms several Pokémon out of their apples, and when Attract wears off a fight breaks out until Pikachu’s shock flattens the Trainers. Iris defends her disobedient Pokémon, and Emolga slips into the forest with Axew and Oshawott, where Oshawott cuts apples from a tree guarded by Watchog and an angry Simisear knocks it out.
Snivy stops Simisear’s punch with Vine Whip and redirects its Flamethrower into a cliff, and she and Emolga shatter the falling boulder with Leaf Storm and Hidden Power, beginning a prickly rivalry. Simisear retreats, and Bianca, after seeing Ash’s three Badges, leaves to earn her own.
