Synopsis
Ash finally battles Clay deep underground, and his Roggenrola evolves into Boldore to win him the Quake Badge. Clay accepts the Revival Herbs and leads the group into a mine tunnel for a three-on-three battle; Oshawott clears Krokorok’s Sandstorm from its eyes by firing Water Gun into the air and wins with Aqua Jet and Razor Shell.
Clay’s huge Palpitoad then defeats Oshawott with Hydro Pump, Sludge Bomb and Rock Smash, but Snivy infatuates it with Attract and finishes it with Leaf Storm, to Clay’s fury. His Excadrill deflects all of Snivy’s moves with Rapid Spin and knocks her out with a one-hit Horn Drill, and Clay dismisses Ash’s dream of becoming a Pokémon Master as mere talk.
Ash sends out Roggenrola to withstand Excadrill’s Drill Run, and as Clay orders a final Horn Drill it evolves into Boldore. Thanks to its Ability, Sturdy, Boldore survives the move, catches Excadrill’s Drill Run and weakens it with Rock Blast before slamming it into the ground. Clay awards Ash his fifth Badge, and Nurse Joy points the group towards the Gym in Mistralton City.
