A Full Battle Bounty! is the 50th episode of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon – Ultra Legends, the twenty-second season of the Pokémon anime, and the 1076th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 1082, Bulbapedia code SM142). It first aired in Japan on 6 October 2019 and in the United States on 8 February 2020. It falls within the season’s Guzzlord & the Masked Royal stretch (EP140–EP144).
Synopsis
The exhibition battle rages on as Ash and Professor Kukui trade knockouts, Melmetal falls to Incineroar’s Blast Burn, and Naganadel enters an official battle for the first time. Lycanroc reflects Braviary’s Rock Slide with Counter, but Braviary carries it into the sky with Sky Drop and slams it down. Its Steel Wing slices through Stone Edge, and in the dust Lycanroc cannot dodge a super-effective Superpower; it collapses after rising a second time, the battle’s first knockout. Rowlet, still wearing its Decidueye cloak, takes to the air, and its Razor Leaf and Seed Bomb trade blows with Braviary’s Steel Wing, one Everstone shot striking Braviary in the face. When Kukui calls for Superpower, Rowlet dodges at the last instant and knocks Braviary out with Brave Bird, evening the score at one Pokémon each.
Kukui sends out Venusaur, which traps Rowlet in its flower and charges Solar Beam at point-blank range, but Rowlet escapes with Feather Dance as it did against Hau. Venusaur’s Sludge Bomb stops Brave Bird, though, and Vine Whip finishes Rowlet off. Torracat returns with its bell still swollen with the absorbed Blast Burn, bites through Venusaur’s vines with Fire Fang and defeats it with Fire Blast, and Ash recalls it to save it for Incineroar. Kukui’s Empoleon, which he says studies ocean currents around the world, cuts through Pikachu’s Electroweb with Metal Claw and traps it in Whirlpool, leaving it dizzy, so Ash substitutes Melmetal. Melmetal deflects Hydro Pump by spinning, staggers Empoleon with Flash Cannon, shrugs off Whirlpool with its great weight and wins with Double Iron Bash.
Kukui then sends out Incineroar against Melmetal. Darkest Lariat breaks through Flash Cannon, and when Melmetal attempts Double Iron Bash, Incineroar seizes both of its fists. As the two strain against each other, Kukui orders a point-blank Blast Burn, which engulfs Melmetal and knocks it out. Kukui switches to Lucario, and Ash answers with a Beast Ball, sending out Naganadel for its first official battle. Wicke is amazed to see an Ultra Beast on the field, and Lusamine remarks that entrusting Naganadel to Ash was the right decision. Naganadel spins with excitement before the cheering crowd as Tapu Koko watches from above, and the next round begins with a clash between Naganadel’s X-Scissor and Lucario’s Close Combat, leaving the outcome for the next episode.
