Koharu and Eievui – The Miracle of Evolution is the 29th Japanese episode of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series, the twenty-fifth season of the Pokémon anime, and Japanese episode 1205 overall (Bulbapedia code JN119). It has never been dubbed into English. It first aired in Japan on 29 July 2022. It falls within the season’s The Masters Eight: quarterfinals stretch (EP115–EP120).
Never dubbed or released in English: a Japan-only clip show (TV Tokyo, 29 July 2022), skipped like all four of the season’s clip shows, so Netflix goes straight from JN118 to JN120. Read more about the four undubbed clip shows.
Synopsis
In this Japan-only clip show, Chrysa and Mimey host the first edition of “Mime Channel” (Bari Channel), a special broadcast devoted to Chloe and her still-unevolved Eevee. The two hosts open the programme with a round of Eevee trivia, which frames everything that follows as a look back at the pair’s history together and at the many forms Eevee might one day take. No main character appears in person: Chrysa and Mimey present the programme, Professor Cerise, Ren and Chrysa appear in the present-day framing, and Ash, Pikachu, Goh, Chloe and their Pokémon are seen only in clips from earlier episodes. Chrysa reads the title card, and the episode has no eyecatch. It is the first regular-broadcast clip show of the anime since Diamond and Pearl (DP120), and the first in which Ash and Pikachu are physically absent; the narrator’s radio segment even makes a reference to the opening theme, 1・2・3.
The hosts first revisit how Chloe and Eevee came to be partners, drawing on JN049: Chloe, unsure whether she wanted to catch a Pokémon at all, met an Eevee that had fled from the Eevee Evolution Lab, helped it escape Team Rocket and the pursuing researchers, and, when Eevee chose to stay with her instead of returning, caught it with a Poké Ball offered by Goh. Chrysa and Mimey then walk in order through the moments when Eevee met each of its evolved forms, among them the circus Jolteon and Flareon of the trapeze artists Harmony and Billy (JN098), with flashback appearances by Ash, Goh, Dawn, Lana and other friends who shared those encounters, along with Pokémon such as Pikachu, Piplup, Cinderace, Mantyke and Sobble. Once the recap is done, the hosts speculate about where the pair’s journey might lead next, ending the retrospective on a forward-looking note.
The programme then cuts to the narrator’s own late-night radio show, which reads out letters from three listeners: Professor Cerise, Ren and Chrysa. Each letter reflects on how much Chloe has grown since Eevee became her partner and how far the two have travelled together, from her first hesitant steps out of her father’s shadow to her meetings with Trainers of every Eeveelution, bridging the recaps and the closing material. The episode ends with “Eevee Fortunes,” a light-hearted segment that assigns a lucky item to each of Eevee’s evolutions, set against a fantasy sequence of Eeveelutions and first-partner Pokémon. Chloe, Professor Cerise and Eevee then narrate the preview of JN120, the episode in which Chloe’s camping trip with her family brings her closer to an answer about evolution. Like the other clip shows of the season, it was never dubbed into any language or broadcast outside Japan.
