Three Sides to Every Story! is the 32nd episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 599th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 604, Bulbapedia code DP137). It first aired in Japan on 6 August 2009 and in the United States on 26 December 2009. It falls within the season’s South through Twinleaf Town stretch (EP134–EP142).
Synopsis
Dawn’s Piplup falls for a Marill at a Berry orchard and battles a rival Elekid for its affection, only for Marill to prefer the Electric Pokémon. Lulu, who is running her family’s orchard alone for three days, invites the group to stay, and Piplup takes over the watering to impress her Marill while a wild Elekid keeps zapping it.
Brock suspects Elekid also likes Marill, since its attacks never hit her. That night Team Rocket, disguised as a Sunflora, steal the orchard’s Lum Berries, and when Piplup and Elekid start fighting instead of stopping them, the trio carry off Marill, Piplup and Elekid in their balloon.
The squabbling captives wreck the balloon and escape, but Team Rocket recapture Marill. Piplup and Elekid briefly cooperate, Jessie eats the Lum Berry meant for her paralysed Yanmega, and Elekid kicks Jessie away to save Marill before Grotle’s Energy Ball blasts the trio off. Marill chooses Elekid, leaving Piplup heartbroken, and Johanna reveals she will chair the Twinleaf Festival.
