Gateway to Ruin! is the 31st episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 598th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 603, Bulbapedia code DP136). It first aired in Japan on 23 July 2009 and in the United States on 19 December 2009. It falls within the season’s South through Twinleaf Town stretch (EP134–EP142).
Synopsis
Returning a lost Shellos to its home on Mount Coronet, Ash and his friends stumble upon Team Galactic searching for the gateway to Spear Pillar, and Looker reveals that he is an International Police agent. Nurse Joy explains that pink West Sea Shellos have been turning up on the mountain’s east side, and the group fall into a cave system while following the stray.
Deep inside, they find Saturn and the scientist Charon searching ruins with data from Iron Island, and the Grunts tie them up while Team Rocket spy on the briefcase holding the Spear Key. A masked Grunt whispers reassurance to the group, then unmasks as Looker of the International Police, and Seviper’s Haze lets Team Rocket snatch the key.
Saturn’s Toxicroak opens a hidden wall with Rock Smash, reclaims the Spear Key and blasts Team Rocket away, but the ruins are not the gateway, and Team Galactic retreat as the chamber floods. Looker inflates a raft to carry everyone to safety on the western side, and the group return the Shellos to its herd.
