Synopsis
Professor Oak goes missing on his way to the Twinleaf Festival, and while Ash’s group search for him, James takes his place on stage in disguise. Oak, delayed by a flat tyre, wanders into a nearby marsh to watch the local Pokémon, where a Politoed and two Quagsire carry him away.
Searching the marsh, Dawn’s Piplup sinks into quicksand twice and is rescued by Buneary and Croagunk, and Croagunk defeats the Politoed in a cave. Inside, the group find Oak with a depressed Lombre; the Politoed had brought him there for his Water Stone, and a small piece evolves Lombre into a happy Ludicolo.
At the festival, Izzy and Cara have mistaken James for Oak, and after stage fright he uses his speech on evolution stones to collect the audience’s Pokémon. The real Oak arrives with Dawn, who meets him in person for the first time, and exposes the impostor. A sick Tyranitar blasts James away, and Oak cures it by removing a thorn from its foot.
