Dressed for Jess Success! is the 41st episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 608th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 613, Bulbapedia code DP146). It first aired in Japan on 1 October 2009 and in the United States on 27 February 2010. It falls within the season’s Lyra & Khoury stretch (EP143–EP147).
Synopsis
With Jessie too ill to compete, James disguises himself as Jessilina and wins the Lilypad Town Contest, knocking Dawn out in the semi-final. Dawn needs one more Ribbon for the Grand Festival and chooses Mamoswine for its first Contest battle, which worries Lyra.
In the Performance Stage, Piplup combines Whirlpool and Bide, while Meowth slices noodles with Fury Swipes to the judges’ delight. Mamoswine swallows an Ice Shard to grow ice spikes and defeats a Granbull with Hidden Power and Take Down. In the semi-final, James’s Carnivine steals Mamoswine’s Ice Shard with Vine Whip and throws it back, costing Dawn points.
The enraged Mamoswine charges blindly while Carnivine counters with Bullet Seed and finally hurls it into the judges’ table, and time runs out with James ahead. James goes on to win the Lilypad Ribbon and gives it to Jessie, her third, though she is furious that the crowd cheered him more. Dawn promises Mamoswine they will win the next Contest.
