Bagged Then Tagged! is the 42nd episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 609th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 614, Bulbapedia code DP147). It first aired in Japan on 15 October 2009 and in the United States on 6 March 2010. It falls within the season’s Lyra & Khoury stretch (EP143–EP147).
Synopsis
Ash and Dawn defeat Khoury and Lyra in a Tag Battle at the Lilypad Colosseum, where Khoury’s Totodile evolves into Croconaw, before the Johto pair head home. Before the battle, Team Rocket’s Drapion robot grabs Pikachu and Piplup and tunnels away, sending a decoy robot to mislead Monferno, while the group split up to chase it.
Khoury deduces from fleeing Water Pokémon that the thieves are upstream, and Staraptor slices open the cage holding Pikachu and Piplup, after which Team Rocket’s Seviper and Carnivine are quickly beaten. Back at the Colosseum, Ash and Dawn send out Monferno and Cyndaquil, and Lyra surprises Khoury by choosing Chikorita alongside his Totodile.
Chikorita’s Light Screen blocks the Fire moves, and Totodile evolves into Croconaw and fights back with Superpower and Hydro Pump. Monferno and Cyndaquil knock out Chikorita, and Monferno’s Mach Punch defeats Croconaw. Lyra invites Khoury to travel with her, his father gives Brock a Pokégear, and the pair fly back to Johto by blimp.
