Synopsis
Ash wins the Beacon Badge, his eighth Sinnoh Badge, in his rematch with Volkner at the repaired Sunyshore Gym. Volkner’s Electivire burns Torterra’s Leaf Storm with Fire Punch and freezes it with Ice Punch, but Pikachu’s Static paralyses Electivire, whose Motor Drive absorbs every Thunderbolt, and Iron Tail wins the round.
Infernape’s Mach Punches defeat Jolteon, but Luxray’s Thunder Fang and Shock Wave knock out Pikachu, leaving Infernape against Luxray. Across town, Team Rocket’s latest attempt on Sunyshore Tower ends with them trapped in its generator room, and their explosion blasts them out and knocks out the Gym’s lights.
Battered by Double Team, Thunder Fang and Iron Tail, Infernape activates Blaze and starts firing wildly at the walls, until Ash tells it he believes in it. For the first time Infernape controls Blaze, and powered-up Flamethrower, Mach Punch and Flame Wheel defeat Luxray. Volkner presents the Beacon Badge, Flint says the Sinnoh League starts in a month, and the group heads for Sunyshore Port.
