Synopsis

When Zekrom’s storm returns over Nuvema Town, Ash grabs the overcharged Pikachu, the cloud disperses and Pikachu’s electricity is restored. At dinner Ash decides to stay in Unova and take on its League; Professor Oak agrees to look after his Pokémon, and Professor Juniper gives him a Pokédex and five Poké Balls and points him to the Gym in Striaton City.

In the forest, Ash throws a Poké Ball at a purple shape and hits Iris, a girl who carries her Axew in her hair and gets shocked when she hugs Pikachu. Ash fails to catch a Deerling and is chased by Patrat, but the next morning he catches a Pidove after battling its flock.

Team Rocket, working undercover and told to catch only Unova Pokémon, snatch Pikachu and Axew, and Jessie catches a Woobat that beats Pidove. Oshawott, which has followed Ash from the lab, smashes their glass box with its scalchop and hits Woobat with Water Gun, and the trio escape in a cloud of smoke. At the Pokémon Center Iris thanks Ash, who wonders why Oshawott helped.
