It first aired in Japan on 12 January 2012 and in the United States on 19 May 2012. It falls within the season’s Driftveil Gym, Chargestone Cave & the Hero’s Ruin stretch (EP61–EP66).
Synopsis
Near Chargestone Cave, a wave of electricity-draining incidents brings the group back together with Bianca and Professor Juniper, and Cilan’s Dwebble evolves into Crustle. A Joltik drains Pikachu, and Emolga, Stunfisk and even the group’s Poké Balls lose power. At the Pokémon Center Bianca knocks Ash into a fountain, explains her plan to trade Shelmet for Juniper’s Karrablast so that both evolve, and Juniper reports trouble at her research base outside the cave.
On the way, a swarm of Galvantula traps the group in Electroweb and carries off Pikachu and Minccino. Following them, Ash and Bianca discover that the Galvantula only want the two Electric-types to recharge drained Joltik, and Juniper traces the problem to a hidden section of the cave, where Team Rocket’s machine is soaking up the charge of the rocks.
Excadrill stops the machine, and the Joltik and Galvantula overload it with Thunderbolt. In the battle with Jessie’s Woobat and James’s Yamask, Dwebble evolves into Crustle and blocks Air Slash with its new Rock Wrecker. Team Rocket fly off with some rocks, the Galvantula and Joltik restore the cave, and Juniper’s team prepares the trade.
