Strong Strategy Steals the Show! is the 9th episode of Pokémon: BW Adventures in Unova and Beyond, the sixteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 759th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 764, Bulbapedia code BW106). It first aired in Japan on 13 December 2012 and in the United States on 30 March 2013. It falls within the season’s The Vertress Conference stretch (EP103–EP108).
Synopsis
Ash wins his three-on-three battle against Stephan to reach the Vertress Conference quarter-finals, where Cameron awaits him in a Full Battle. Krookodile defeats Liepard with Stone Edge and Dragon Claw, surviving its Double Team, Shadow Claws and the Hyper Beams fired into its Dig tunnel.
Against Zebstrika, Palpitoad reveals Sludge Wave, but the poison only powers up Zebstrika’s Facade; Supersonic, Hydro Pump and a final Mud Shot against Giga Impact end in a double knockout. Leavanny unveils X-Scissor and activates Swarm for the first time, binding Sawk in boosted String Shot, but Low Sweep slows it down and a Karate Chop knocks it out.
The weary Krookodile returns and surprises Stephan with a new move, Aerial Ace, which knocks out Sawk and wins the match. Virgil and Cameron also advance, and at a celebratory feast Stephan promises to cheer for Ash. That night Ash finds Cameron camping on the battlefield, and at sunrise Cameron opens their Full Battle with his secret weapon, Hydreigon.
