Synopsis
In Galar, Goh helps the unsure leader of a newly formed Falinks troop gain confidence and catches it, along with a Galarian Stunfisk, while a lost Eiscue tumbles across the region trying to get home. In a cold corner of Galar, an Eiscue falls asleep on a floating block of ice and wakes far out at sea, its colony nowhere in sight. At Cerise Park, Goh’s Raichu has the Pokémon line up for Berries so neatly that Professor Cerise is reminded of a Falinks, which Chrysa explains is six individuals acting as one Pokémon. Eager to see one, Ash and Goh travel to Galar. Goh mistakes something on the ground for a Poké Ball, finds that it is a Galarian Stunfisk and catches it. Meanwhile the Eiscue washes ashore, trips over a Galarian Slowpoke’s tail and shatters the ice around its face, so it sticks its head into an ice cream cart’s freezer, only for the vendor to toss it onto a passing pickup truck.
The boys find a Falinks, which their Rotom Phone explains is made up of one brass and five troopers. The troop works well together, easily beating a Boldore, but the brass is poor at giving orders, suggesting the group formed only recently. When Grookey whacks the Falinks with its stick, the troop prepares to attack, and Pikachu’s protective Thunderbolt scatters it; the brass rolls down a hill, and Goh catches it just before it falls into a river. Goh apologises and suggests returning together, but the brass hesitates, doubting its leadership. Meanwhile Ash rounds up the troopers, who, lacking their leader, start following Pikachu everywhere, to Pikachu’s obvious discomfort. Goh tries to show the brass good teamwork with Cinderace, Raichu, Pansear and Panpour, but Cinderace is far too fast for the others, so he has his Pokémon follow and train with the brass instead, and its confidence grows.
The brass rejoins its troopers, freeing Pikachu from command, and the Falinks moves in perfect step. Just then, the Eiscue comes tumbling back from its wild ride and crashes into them, and the annoyed Falinks challenges it to a battle in which the brass directs the troopers skilfully in attack and defence. When the fight cracks the ice around Eiscue’s face, it panics and flees again. Satisfied that they have gathered the data they need, Ash and Goh prepare to leave, but after a quick discussion among the troop, the Falinks asks to join Goh, and he happily catches it. Ash, excited by all the Galarian Pokémon he has yet to meet, agrees that they should return for more research. Meanwhile the Eiscue falls into a river and drifts out to sea, where the ice around its face slowly reforms, and it finally finds its way back to its colony.
