Synopsis

When two feuding circus trapeze artists accidentally evolve each other’s Eevee, Chloe, Ash and Goh help the new Jolteon and Flareon show their Trainers that teamwork beats rivalry. Ash and Goh have won a lottery prize to guest-perform at a Pokémon Circus, and Chloe tags along because she has heard that a Flareon and a Jolteon will be in the show. The showman, who looks just like the excavation leader and the Pewter Museum curator but insists he is neither, explains that his trapeze artists Harmony and Billy are about to evolve their Eevee, Bernice and Toril. Harmony loves Fire types and Billy loves Electric types, and each insists that their type is superior. Arguing over who should go first, they drop their Fire Stone and Thunder Stone onto the wrong Eevee: Bernice becomes a Jolteon and Toril a Flareon. Spare stones cannot reverse the change, so on the showman’s advice the furious performers swap Pokémon for the show, despite Ash’s protests about the Pokémon’s feelings.

While Ash and Goh practise their guest acts, Chloe notices that Bernice and Toril are miserable without their original partners. The next day each wanders into its former Trainer’s rehearsal, so the showman tells Harmony and Billy to practise with their own Pokémon, but the act still is not working, and the show may be cancelled. When the Trainers take a break and leave their partners behind, Bernice and Toril run out of the tent, followed by Chloe and Eevee, who find them practising together. Ash and Goh realise that the pair want to perform as a team, and Eevee joins in, copying their moves with Copycat. The boys help train the Eeveelutions, and Chloe invites Harmony and Billy to watch as Bernice and Toril combine Thunder Shock and Ember into a dazzling display of fireworks. Moved by their partners’ determination, the performers resolve to practise together.

On the day of the show, Professor Cerise, Chrysa and Ren watch from the audience as Ash and Goh’s guest acts go off without a hitch. Chloe and Eevee then take the stage as Harmony and Billy begin their flying trapeze routine, each starting with the other’s Pokémon and swapping back to their own in mid-swing as their partners wrap the trapeze ropes in fire and electricity. Eevee fires Ember and Thunder Shock in turn, the performers’ other Pokémon join in, and the audience is amazed. Afterward Harmony and Billy thank Chloe for saving the show and give her their spare evolution stones, a Fire Stone and a Thunder Stone, saying the experience has broadened their horizons. Chloe gratefully accepts them, promising to stay by Eevee’s side whatever it eventually evolves into.
