Synopsis
The Rising Volt Tacklers fend off the “Lapras Pirates,” track them to their hidden base, and learn through a shared vision of Lucius why the giant Lapras keeps its distance, until it finally agrees to join Liko, just before the Black Rayquaza appears overhead. Terapagos is delighted to meet Lapras, whose blue glow matches its own, and Liko realises it is one of the Six Heroes, but Lapras turns away and sends its crew, Ambipom, Toedscruel, Vigoroth, Galarian Slowbro, Bibarel, Octillery and Barbaracle among them, to attack the Brave Olivine. Chansey and Rockruff are intimidated until Liko and Roy join in, and with Diana’s Arcanine, Charizard and Captain Pikachu fighting alongside them, the pirates are soon beaten back. Lapras orders a retreat, to Liko’s dismay, and Friede gives chase, explaining that Lapras’s song and Mist lured ships off course while its crew sneaked aboard to steal their food, and that Wailord was behind the shaking. Diana dubs them the “Lapras Pirates” and asks Liko to consider how Lapras feels.
Ludlow, who once owned the ship, takes the helm, comparing himself to a Gyarados, and his Quagsire’s Surf blocks the pirates’ Water Guns and raises huge waves. Lapras charges the ship, nearly tipping it over, peers through a window at Liko, Diana and Friede, and freezes the Brave Olivine in place with Ice Beam before swimming off. Remembering how Lapras turned away at the sight of Terapagos, Liko senses that something is on its mind; spotting a crate Lapras dropped, she decides to wait for it rather than chase it, putting on Lucius’s belt. Lapras returns to its base among the rocks and is shocked to find Liko, Friede and Roy waiting there. Liko explains that she only wanted Lapras to meet Terapagos, which the crew welcomes warmly, and that she will help Terapagos reach Laqua, the paradise Lucius and the Six Heroes found.
Terapagos glows, Arboliva and Galarian Moltres emerge from their balls, and Lapras sings, enveloping everyone in a ball of light that shows Lucius thanking his companions and promising that he will live on in Laqua. Lapras, Arboliva and Moltres weep, and the group understands that the Six Heroes made a promise with their Trainer. Lapras smiles at Liko and has its crew bring Berries, while Arcanine melts the ship free and Murdock shares doughnuts; Diana explains that this is how Pokémon live in the wild, and that Trainers can bridge the gap between people and Pokémon. At sunset Lapras hesitates over Liko’s invitation, but its crew urges it to choose, Ambipom returns the Ancient Poké Ball they have kept safe, and Lapras tosses the ball and recalls itself. The pirates sail away on Wailord under cover of Mist. With half the Six Heroes now with them, Liko and Roy feel closer to the Black Rayquaza, when Terapagos wakes and spots it in the sky: Rayquaza has found them first.
