Synopsis

Hunting a legendary Lapras that sings to guide lost ships through the mist, the Rising Volt Tacklers discover that the rescues are a deception: the scarred, giant Lapras, Lucius’s fourth hero, leads a band of Pokémon that steal cargo from the ships they “save.” A cargo ship carrying Berries is caught in a thick fog and seems about to hit a reef when singing rings out and a Lapras glowing blue in the shadows guides it to safety. Aboard the Brave Olivine, Diana tells the crew about the singing Pokémon, which she suspects is a special Lapras and has already failed to find herself, and shows sightings that Dot helped her gather online; Liko admires how quickly her grandmother has befriended Dot. The cargo ship’s captain tells Liko, Roy and Friede that Lapras rescued his ship, though the shaking knocked cargo overboard, and that it will protect them from the fog again.

Liko’s Pokédex says Lapras can understand human speech, and Roy recalls the Lapras on his island that carry villagers on their backs, while Ludlow warns the children not to assume too much. As the ship searches the waters where the cargo was lost, the mist returns, the same song echoes, Terapagos grows excited, and the ship shakes violently as Lapras’s shadow passes in the fog. Friede gives chase, but Diana senses something wrong. Fuecoco cries out in distress: an Ambipom and a Toedscruel are stealing the ship’s food, and Toedscruel’s Mud-Slap blinds Fuecoco until Sprigatito’s Quick Attack makes the thieves drop their loot and flee. Dot and Quaxly spot a strange shadow racing away, and when the fog clears, Lapras is gone, leaving Terapagos sad.

In the meeting room, Friede wonders why grassland Pokémon like Ambipom and Toedscruel would be out on the open ocean, Liko and Roy guess that the shadow was the thieves’ Trainer’s boat, and Diana realises that the Lapras itself must have used Mist, which makes Friede suspicious about the timing of the fog. He resolves to meet Lapras again, puts Orla in the engine room and Ludlow at the helm, and has Murdock and Mollie bring all the Pokémon food onto the deck as bait. The ship makes a sharp U-turn into the returning fog, and Captain Pikachu’s Volt Tackle creates a vortex that clears it, revealing Ambipom, Toedscruel and many other Pokémon riding a scarred Wailord alongside the ship as the two thieves climb aboard for the food. Friede realises that the guidance of lost ships was a deception, and Liko looks up at the giant Lapras, its neck, left eye and shell scarred from battle.
