Synopsis
A trail of strange purple liquid and a mysterious clinking sound lead Liko and Roy on a night-time investigation aboard the Brave Olivine, which uncovers a Polteageist stowaway, its tea-tasting rivalry with Shuckle, and the ship’s secret gatherings of Pokémon. During a training battle with Friede and Captain Pikachu on the wing deck, Fuecoco slips on a puddle of purple liquid and crashes into the deck’s barrier, and Cap spots a shadowy Pokémon at the observation deck door. That night Diana, glad of her granddaughter’s company, shows Liko a chipped antique teacup she wants to test, and when Liko hears clinking in the corridors, Diana encourages her to solve the mystery like a detective. Roy and Fuecoco follow the trail of liquid, which leads to the shadowy Pokémon, a Polteageist that bumps into Pawmi and drops its tea-cap lid, the source of the clinking, while Liko, confused further by Rockruff’s barking, finds nothing.
Dot, looking for Shuckle’s fermented Berry juice, finds little left and tries to slurp it from the shell with a straw until Shuckle pours her a cup. Polteageist, stuck to Muk, is shocked to hear Shuckle’s juice praised, and when Cap catches it, it angrily challenges Shuckle to a battle; Cap has Snorunt push the Shuckle to the battlefield. Liko decides to sleep on it, but the clinking returns, and she and Roy find Quaxly acting suspiciously and follow the purple trail to the hold, where the Brave Olivine’s Pokémon, Terapagos among them, are cheering on a battle between Polteageist and Shuckle. Shuckle’s hit makes Polteageist drop its lid and spill its purple tea, revealing it as the source of the mess, and at Cap’s urging it dodges the next attack, sending Shuckle crashing into the Berry crates.
Seeing the other Pokémon cheering for it, Polteageist stops fighting and uses Teatime, playing music and serving tea to everyone, and Shuckle contributes Berries to go with it. Liko realises that Quaxly has been secretly joining these gatherings and lets the Pokémon enjoy their private time. The two rivals come to respect each other’s tastes, and Polteageist shares the Rising Volt Tacklers’ handshake with Cap, though in its joy it spills more tea and Fuecoco slips again. The next morning, the crew eats breakfast on the wing deck beside the tired Pokémon, and Friede is unsurprised to find Polteageist sleeping among them, saying that anyone who is comfortable is welcome. Then Friede spits out a mouthful of bad-tasting tea from Diana’s antique cup, which turns out to hold a Sinistea, born from Diana’s experiment with Polteageist’s tea, and the two Ghost types fall asleep together.
