Synopsis

In Area Zero, Roy battles a strange Sandy Shocks that he mistakes for a hairy Magneton, while the Explorer Coral, shadowing the group, teams up with a loud Scream Tail against a Great Tusk and accidentally catches it. Guided by Briar, the Rising Volt Tacklers begin exploring Area Zero, and the trio marvel at its glittering Tera crystals, waterfalls and unusual Pokémon. Sidian and Coral follow in secret, but Coral, distracted, throws rocks at the crystals to hear the sounds they make and ignores Sidian’s pleas to focus; the noise makes the trio think a Paradox Pokémon is nearby. Sensing that something has been watching them, Roy goes back alone and meets a Sandy Shocks, which he takes for an unusual Magneton with hair. It attacks him and Crocalor and chases them away from the group and right past the Explorers. Sidian is left baffled as Coral rides Glalie after Roy despite his protests.

Losing Roy, Coral steps on the hair of a Scream Tail, which lets out a deafening scream; mistaking it for a Jigglypuff, she nicknames it “Screamypuff,” and when it refuses to move the two get into a shouting match. The racket draws a Great Tusk from a cave, which knocks Scream Tail over with Throat Chop, to Coral’s amusement, and then glares at it and Glalie with Scary Face. Coral tells Scream Tail to stand back and watch as Glalie partly freezes Great Tusk with Blizzard. Meanwhile, Roy has had enough of being chased and orders Flame Charge, unaware that Sandy Shocks is part Ground type, and the fight escalates. Moved by Glalie’s bravery, Scream Tail uses Boomburst, and another Throat Chop stops it from using sound-based moves for a while. Glalie’s Ice Spinner and Great Tusk’s Rollout clash evenly; when Glalie uses Crunch, Scream Tail surprisingly joins in with its own, and together they briefly pin Great Tusk before it shakes them off.

Coral orders Self-Destruct to end the fight, but Scream Tail’s Boomburst interrupts it and Great Tusk drags Glalie back towards Coral, so the explosion sends Coral, Glalie and Scream Tail flying. Roy finally gains the upper hand, and Crocalor’s Flamethrower defeats the Sandy Shocks; Roy praises it and promises a rematch, and as he and Crocalor leave singing, the Sandy Shocks mimics their song. Recovering from the blast, Coral praises Glalie but gives Scream Tail only a backhanded compliment, dismissing its complaints as “total nonsense,” and when it throws another tantrum she flings whatever is at hand to silence it, accidentally catching it in a Poké Ball. Roy rejoins Liko and Dot, who are confused by his story of a hairy Magneton. Coral shows Sidian her new Pokémon, now officially named Screamypuff, which keeps screaming so loudly that the trio hear it from their campsite; Briar identifies the cry as a Scream Tail’s and falls asleep, while Screamypuff screams on into the night.
