Chaos Rising booster pack (Mega Greninja)

Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising is the fifth expansion of the Pokémon TCG’s Mega Evolution Series, released in English on May 22, 2026. The set collects 122 cards — 86 in the main set plus 36 secret rares — and is built around five Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, headlined by the Kalos ninja Mega Greninja ex.

Chaos Rising keeps the series in Kalos, drawing its look and cast from Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the streets of Lumiose City. Around Mega Greninja ex it fields Mega Floette ex, Mega Dragalge ex, Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Gallade ex — the largest Mega line-up the series has fielded so far.

It is the English release of Japan’s Ninja Spinner set, and slots in right after Perfect Order. The full retail spread is here — a booster box, two Elite Trainer Boxes, a Build & Battle Box, a Booster Bundle, single- and three-pack blisters (with Toxel and Charmeleon promos) and a Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection.

Chaos descends on the Kalos region! Mega Greninja ex rises at the head of a new wave of Mega Evolution Pokémon ex — Mega Floette ex, Mega Dragalge ex, Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Gallade ex — each a three-Prize powerhouse. Turn the tide of battle in Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising!

Chaos Over Kalos

Mega Greninja ex artwork

If Perfect Order was Zygarde restoring balance, Chaos Rising is the disorder that answers it. The set channels the upheaval sweeping Kalos in Pokémon Legends: Z-A — Lumiose City in flux and wild energy loose across the region.

Striking from the middle of that storm is Mega Greninja ex, the Kalos ninja and the set’s headline chase, leading a five-strong Mega line-up alongside Mega Floette ex, Mega Dragalge ex, Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Gallade ex.

It is the English release of Japan’s Ninja Spinner — a fitting name for a set built around Greninja’s shifting, shuriken-quick attacks.

Highlights

Chaos Rising’s chase is led by the gold Mega Hyper Rare Mega Greninja ex and a run of Special Illustration Rares — full-art versions of three of the Mega ex (Greninja, Floette and Dragalge), a breakout Cinccino ex, and character cards for AZ and Roxie.

Japanese Release & the Dual Set

In Japan the set’s cards come from the expansion Ninja Spinner, released March 13, 2026 and headlined by Mega Greninja ex. As with the rest of the era, the English Chaos Rising adapts and lightly expands the Japanese list into its 122-card line-up.

For Collectors: Most Valuable Cards

Mega Greninja ex 116/086

Mega Greninja ex — 116/086 (Special Illustration Rare)

The set’s most sought-after card — a full-art Special Illustration Rare of the headline Pokémon, and the pull most Chaos Rising collectors are chasing at the top of launch-window prices.

Mega Greninja ex 122/086

Mega Greninja ex — 122/086 (Mega Hyper Rare)

The gold Mega Hyper Rare Mega Greninja ex — the only card at this rarity in the set and the etched, textured showpiece the whole expansion is built around.

Cinccino ex 119/086

Cinccino ex — 119/086 (Special Illustration Rare)

A charming full-scene Cinccino ex — the non-Mega breakout of the set and a steady secondary chase alongside the Mega SIRs.

Mega Dragalge ex 118/086

Mega Dragalge ex — 118/086 (Special Illustration Rare)

A striking full-art SIR of the Dragon-type Mega — one of the tougher Mega SIRs to pull and a favourite with type collectors.

AZ’s Tranquility 120/086

AZ’s Tranquility — 120/086 (Special Illustration Rare)

A full-art Supporter SIR built around AZ — the character-card Special Illustration Rares tie straight into the Legends: Z-A story and hold strong value with Kalos fans.

For Players: Most Powerful Cards

Mega Greninja ex 022/086

Mega Greninja ex

The set’s aggressive centrepiece. Ninja Spinner hits for 120 and, by returning a Water Energy to your hand, jumps to a huge 200 — while the Mortal Shuriken Ability drops six damage counters onto a Pokémon of your choice each turn, softening up walls and picking off the Bench.

Mega Pyroar ex 015/086

Mega Pyroar ex

A glass-cannon Fire attacker. Fiery Big Bang starts at a colossal 290 (minus 10 for each damage counter already on Pyroar), and Ferocious Bellow deals 80 while cutting the next turn’s incoming damage by 50 — hit first and hit hard.

Mega Floette ex 035/086

Mega Floette ex

A control-flavoured Psychic Mega. Gentle Light heals 30 from every Pokémon in play to grind the game long, while Eternity Bloom smashes for 200 and reloads by searching your deck for up to four Basic Psychic Energy.

Mega Gallade ex 048/086

Mega Gallade ex

A Fighting bruiser that rewards staying healthy. Gale Slash does 50 — or a massive 200 if Gallade has no damage counters on it — and Marvelous Edge is a flat 240, enough to one-shot most Mega ex.

Mega Dragalge ex 065/086

Mega Dragalge ex

The set’s disruption specialist. Corrosive Liquid strips every Pokémon Tool and Special Energy off your opponent’s board, while Pernicious Poison leaves the Active Pokémon Poisoned for 16 damage counters (160) between turns — a slow, inescapable clock.

Trivia

  • The set takes its name and mood from the turmoil sweeping Kalos in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, with Mega Greninja ex as its face.
  • Chaos Rising keeps the series in Kalos, drawing its setting and cast from the streets of Lumiose City.
  • Its five Mega Evolution Pokémon ex — Mega Greninja, Mega Floette, Mega Dragalge, Mega Pyroar and Mega Gallade ex — make the largest Mega line-up in the series so far.
  • Mega Greninja ex is the set’s only Mega Hyper Rare (122/086) and the headline chase card.
  • It is the English version of Japan’s Ninja Spinner (released 13 March 2026), lightly expanded to 122 cards.
  • Chaos Rising restores the full retail line-up — a booster box, two Elite Trainer Boxes, a Build & Battle Box, a Booster Bundle, blisters and a Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection.
