Pitch Black booster pack (Mega Darkrai)

Mega Evolution—Pitch Black is the sixth expansion of the Pokémon TCG’s Mega Evolution Series, released in English on July 17, 2026. The set collects 120 cards — 84 in the main set plus 36 secret rares — and is built around six Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, headlined by the shadowy Mega Darkrai ex.

Pitch Black takes its darkness-and-nightmares mood from the Mega Dimension chapter of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Around Mega Darkrai ex it fields Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Delphox ex, Mega Slowbro ex, Mega Chandelure ex and Mega Excadrill ex — six Mega ex in all, the deepest Mega roster the series has printed.

It is the English release of Japan’s Abyss Eye set, and follows Chaos Rising in the run of Mega Evolution expansions. The full retail spread is here — a booster box, two Elite Trainer Boxes, a Build & Battle Box, a Booster Bundle, single- and three-pack blisters (with Slowpoke and Binacle promos) and a Mega Zeraora ex Premium Collection.

Delve into darkness beyond limits! Mega Darkrai ex rises from the shadows at the head of a new wave of Mega Evolution Pokémon ex — Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Delphox ex, Mega Slowbro ex, Mega Chandelure ex and Mega Excadrill ex — each a three-Prize powerhouse. Face the night in Mega Evolution—Pitch Black!

The Mega Dimension

Pitch Black key art

Pitch Black takes its name and its mood from the Mega Dimension — the shadowy, between-worlds realm introduced in the Mega Dimension chapter of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It is a place where the borders between regions thin and Mega-Evolved Pokémon are drawn together from across the world, and the set leans hard into that darkness-and-nightmares atmosphere.

That theme is why Mega Darkrai ex sits at the centre of the set. The Pitch-Black Pokémon rules over sleep and nightmares, and its cards trade in Special Conditions and shadow — a natural fit for a dimension defined by the dark. Around it the six Mega ex are pulled from right across the Pokémon world — from Kanto’s Slowbro to Unova’s Excadrill and Chandelure, Kalos’ Delphox, the Mythical Zeraora and Sinnoh’s Darkrai — echoing the way the Mega Dimension gathers Megas from every region.

Where earlier sets in the series leaned on a single headline region, Pitch Black is built around a feeling first: the deep, quiet dread at the dimension’s heart, rendered in inky purples and blacks across its card frames, packaging and promos.

Highlights

Pitch Black’s chase is led by the gold Mega Hyper Rare Mega Darkrai ex and a run of Special Illustration Rares — full-art versions of Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, Mega Darkrai ex and Morpeko ex, plus character cards for Gladion and Gwynn.

For Players: Most Powerful Cards

Mega Darkrai ex

Mega Darkrai ex

The headliner and a genuine finisher. Dusk Raid hits for 110 and doubles to 220 when your Bench is banged up, while Abyss Eye outright Knocks Out any opposing Active Pokémon carrying a Special Condition — pair it with Poison or Sleep and no HP total is safe.

Mega Zeraora ex

Mega Zeraora ex

A scaling Lightning attacker. Thunderous Fist does 60 damage for every Lightning Energy attached, so it snowballs past 200 fast, and Zepto Turn deals 150 and pivots straight to the Bench to dodge the return hit.

Mega Delphox ex

Mega Delphox ex

A tempo engine. Trick Portal digs nine cards deep and drops any Pokémon it finds onto your Bench for explosive setup, while Eerie Glow swings for 200 and leaves the target Burned and Confused.

Mega Slowbro ex

Mega Slowbro ex

A punishing wall. Shellnado Spin hits for 180, and if Slowbro is damaged on your opponent’s next turn it slaps 12 damage counters (120) back onto the attacker — even if Slowbro is Knocked Out.

Mega Chandelure ex

Mega Chandelure ex

A retreat-lock specialist. Its Binding Flame Ability raises the opponent’s Retreat Cost, and Phantom Maze starts at 130 and adds 50 for each Colorless in that inflated cost — trapping and punishing at once.

Mega Excadrill ex

Mega Excadrill ex

A mill-and-smash threat. Undermine deals 90 and discards the top two cards of your opponent’s deck, and Maximum Drilling hits 200 — or 330 with two extra Energy attached.
