Synopsis

In Medali, the trio help an elderly couple save their struggling café, and Dot turns their loud Kingambit’s udon into a hit dish, using a street battle against Sidian to draw a crowd. Arriving for Dot’s second test, the children see an elderly couple struggling to clean a griddle; when Tinkatink rushes towards it, a booming shout from a Kingambit stops everyone in their tracks. The couple, Nandy and Mokichi, apologise by inviting the trio to their restaurant, the Anything Goes Café. Kingambit, a Pokémon that relies on brute strength, shatters a salad plate while trying to be gentle and then bows in apology. The children struggle to describe the “House Special,” a bowl of many mixed ingredients, though Dot loves the udon at the bottom, which Kingambit made. Nandy explains that the café is losing regulars to the Treasure Eatery, Medali’s most popular restaurant, so they put everything into one bowl that Kingambit can carry easily. Then Mokichi finds his iron griddle missing: Tinkatink has turned it into a new hammer.

To make up for the griddle, the trio work at the café for the day: Liko cleans, Roy advertises outside with Kingambit, and Dot buys a new griddle, trusting Tinkatink’s eye for good iron, which surprises and pleases Liko. Kingambit’s loud voice frightens passers-by and makes a young boy cry, but Quaxly’s happy dance cheers him up and draws a crowd that fills the café. Mokichi, however, worries that Kingambit has fallen quiet; he tells Dot that it has never been so subdued since he started the café years ago, recalling that he met Nandy after Kingambit’s yelling made her hurt her back and an apology meal led to their life together. Dot wonders whether taking over Kingambit’s jobs caused the change. Noticing departing customers who seem unsure about returning, she applies her experience as a streamer who must keep viewers coming back: the House Special is too busy to leave an impression, and Kingambit’s udon should be a dish of its own. Kingambit recoils from the idea and nearly backs into Sidian, and when Quaxly trips into his leg, Sidian takes it as a challenge.

Dot asks Kingambit to start on the afternoon’s udon dough and battles Sidian outside, where a crowd is just what she wants. Garganacl’s Salt Cure misses, Iron Defense blocks Quaxly’s Liquidation, and when Quaxly meets a second Salt Cure with Low Kick, the salt bursts into a shimmering shower that enthralls the onlookers; Dot asks Sidian to repeat it, and he obliges. Then Kingambit lets out its signature shout, Liko opens the café door, the aroma of fresh dough draws everyone in, and Dot announces Kingambit Noodles on the afternoon menu, leaving Sidian puzzled about the battle until he realises how hungry he is. The noodles are a triumph: customers, Sidian among them, ask for seconds and promise to return, and Kingambit goes back to its cheerful shouting. The trio finally taste the dish, and Mokichi thanks them, especially Dot. At the counter, Larry finishes a bowl and appreciates its simplicity; Dot thinks she sees him as he leaves, but when her friends turn around no one is there.
