Synopsis

At Kitakami’s Countryside Harvest Festival, a mysterious machine swaps Roy’s and Crocalor’s bodies, while Friede beats the local girl Carmine at carnival games and in battle, and the group learns that Briar is at the Crystal Pool. Landing in Kitakami, the Rising Volt Tacklers ride a bus along Kitakami Road to Mossui Town in search of Briar, but the town is nearly deserted; a shopkeeper explains that everyone is at the annual festival, so they change into festival clothes and head to Kitakami Hall. Friede wants a closer look at a Sinistcha, but its Trainer, Carmine, who distrusts outsiders, challenges him to a carnival game first, and he happily goes off with her. Following an appealing smell to a lone stall away from the crowds, Roy and Crocalor meet a man who has found a device he does not understand. When they press its two buttons together, a bright flash leaves them in each other’s bodies; the man makes Roy promise to keep the machine secret, and it will not work again. Crocalor runs off in Roy’s body, and Roy, chasing on all fours, finds the movement easier and gains a new view of how Crocalor sees the world.

Roy catches up with Crocalor, who is talking with Liko and Dot, and has to explain. They agree to keep a low profile while looking for the man, but Murdock offers to buy them anything they like, and at a candy apple stand Roy accidentally breathes fire on an apple; Murdock loves the caramelised result and the seller asks for more, so the children make polite excuses and slip away. They help Mollie treat a line of children, narrowly hiding the fact that “Crocalor” can talk, as she bandages a girl’s scraped feet. Meanwhile Carmine, having lost two carnival games to Friede, demands a battle; Sinistcha’s Matcha Gotcha lands and heals it, but Captain Pikachu takes off his hat to show he means business, dodges a second Matcha Gotcha and wins with Thunder Punch. Orla is struggling to fix a broken stove at a fried noodle stand, so Roy offers Crocalor’s fire, but his first attempt blasts him into the air and Crocalor catches him.

Crocalor encourages Roy, the two sing their song together, and Roy produces a steady flame that gets the noodle stand cooking again; Dot notes that they work well together even in each other’s bodies, and a boy leaving with his mother says he wants a Crocalor as his first partner, delighting them both. The man reappears with the machine repaired, and at his stall Roy and Crocalor use it to return to their own bodies. Liko and Dot pop out of a bush to try it, but when Liko and Floragato press the buttons, nothing happens and the machine breaks down for good; when Dot reads “Synchro Machine” on the back, the man mistakes it for the owner’s name and starts apologising frantically. After sunset the Rising Volt Tacklers regroup in Mossui Town. Carmine returns to demand another game, but when Friede says he must find Briar, she reveals that Briar is her teacher and is at the Crystal Pool, which requires permission to enter; the Community Center’s caretaker grants it as thanks for helping his daughter Shizune, the girl Mollie treated.
