Synopsis
Rystal tells the story of the original Explorers’ journey to Laqua and the disaster caused by Gibeon’s Laquium, then returns to her own time, and Liko catches Terapagos, adopting Rystal’s nickname for it, Pagogo. Rystal recalls fleeing thieves with her Terapagos until Lucius scared them off with Rayquaza; fascinated by a Pokémon he had never seen, he learned that she met it in the Great Crater of Paldea and called it Pagogo, showed her Heath’s account in the Scarlet Book, and spoke of finding the mythical paradise of Laqua, and she decided to join him. On their journey Lucius caught Arboliva, Galarian Moltres, Lapras, Kleavor and Entei. In a town where most people dismissed Laqua as a fairy tale, they met Gibeon, who had gathered extensive data and believed in it; with his White Zygarde, the three named themselves the Explorers and at last reached Laqua, a paradise where Pokémon such as Latias, Latios and Terrakion lived in harmony. Deeper in, the land grew withered and desolate around a cluster of pink crystals, which Terapagos reacted to aggressively.
Gibeon judged that the crystals held enormous energy, but Lucius, unwilling to meddle with forces beyond natural law, decided to leave. Gibeon refused, digging out more crystals with Zygarde until the quakes drew Lucius and Rystal back; a pink mist spread from the crystals, withering the trees and driving wild Pokémon into a rampage, and nothing Lucius’s Pokémon tried could stop it. Zygarde turned against Gibeon and used its Cells to try to seal the crystals, reverting to its 10% Forme, but the power kept spreading, and a chasm opened beneath Gibeon, who fell before anyone could reach him. Terapagos transformed into its Stellar Form, enclosed Lucius’s Pokémon in orbs of light and raised a great dome of energy over the area; trapped inside, Lucius calmly promised to survive and meet Rystal again in Laqua, and told her to leave and protect their future. The crystals exploded, the mist covered everything, Lucius’s Pokémon were scattered, and Terapagos, spent, fell before Rystal as a dormant jewel.
Rystal explains that she left Laqua to protect her unborn daughter, Layla, and never told her about Lucius; she is glad the Rising Volt Tacklers found his Pokémon in Kanto, Paldea, Galar and Kitakami, each still cherishing its Ancient Poké Ball, and Liko realises that her visions were Terapagos’s memories. Rystal does not know where Laqua is, since the heroes led them there after days adrift at sea and a large ship picked her up on the way home. Before Liko can ask what became of Gibeon, a light surrounds Rystal; she thanks them, asks Liko to be Terapagos’s partner and vanishes with Layla. Terapagos cries, and when Liko promises to reach Laqua together, it looks at her pleadingly, so Friede hands her an empty Poké Ball, which Terapagos taps eagerly; after a few shakes it is caught, and Liko calls it Pagogo. The next day Diana, her quest over, sets off again with Arcanine, and the group resolves to find Entei and Black Rayquaza, while in Levincia Spinel, hiding his work from Hamber, vows to reach Laqua alongside Gibeon.
