Synopsis

The Rising Volt Tacklers fly to Unova to train at Blueberry Academy, where they meet its forgetful director Cyrano and Elite Four members Lacey and Drayton, reunite with Ann, tour the Terarium, and watch Roy lose a Double Battle to Nemona. The episode opens with a Double Battle in which Lacey’s Plusle and Minun face Ann’s Samurott and Sandslash: Minun’s Helping Hand powers up a Grass Knot that binds Ann’s Pokémon together, Sandslash spins free with Rapid Spin, and Plusle and Minun cancel a Hydro Pump with Discharge, activating Lightning Rod and Volt Absorb — the first time Volt Absorb has activated in the anime. Nemona cheers from the stands, and Director Cyrano chats with Ann about her role as an exchange student. The Brave Olivine drifts towards the academy, which stands in the middle of the ocean, and Cyrano greets the young Tacklers at the gate, offering them a chance to train and a place to stay. Briar, however, has forgotten they were coming and asks them to return the next day.

With unexpected free time, Dot asks how a school came to stand in the sea, and Lacey, knowing Cyrano’s forgetful habits, reluctantly agrees to show the visitors around. She leads them to the Terarium, a human-made environment split into Savanna, Coastal, Canyon and Polar Biomes where Pokémon from different habitats live together; Ult runs off after a distracted Sableye, and the others spot a Terastallized Tauros. Lacey explains that Terastal energy from the Terarium Core lets wild Pokémon Terastallize and mentions that Briar has been doing maintenance on the Core. At the Central Plaza they reunite with Ann and Nemona, who says she came to the academy with Penny and challenges Roy to a Double Battle. Roy sends out Crocalor and Lucario; Nemona answers with Pawmot and a Decidueye that she caught as a Rowlet after arriving, and Lacey explains that the battle ends when one side has two Pokémon knocked out.

Decidueye leaps over Flamethrower and attacks through Phantom Force, Pawmot vanishes with Dig, and although Lucario turns Pawmot’s attack against its own partner, Decidueye’s Spirit Shackle pins Lucario’s shadow and Nemona’s Pokémon knock it out. Pawmot’s Double Shock strips away its Electric type, weakening Crocalor’s Stomping Tantrum. Roy Terastallizes Crocalor and Nemona Terastallizes Pawmot; Crocalor’s Flame Charge tries to interrupt Pawmot’s charge, but Spirit Shackle holds it just long enough, and a powerful Focus Punch knocks it out, giving Nemona the win. Ult asks Nemona for a battle, but Lacey reminds her that she must return to Paldea. The young Tacklers say they want to become stronger, Ann suggests asking the students for help — including Lacey, a member of the BB League Elite Four — and when fellow Elite Four member Drayton arrives, he casually refuses and argues with Lacey. Even so, Liko, Roy, Dot and Ult begin training at Blueberry Academy. This is the first episode of the Rising Again arc, with “Iolite” and “Asleep or Awake” as the new Japanese themes.
