Synopsis
In Snowpoint City, Ash and his friends reunite with Zoey and meet Gym Leader Candice, who teaches at the local Trainers’ School. After Candice’s Abomasnow ambushes them, she happily accepts Ash’s challenge but first asks him to talk to her senior class of adult Trainers, where Team Rocket are hiding in disguise.
Ash’s “the best defence is a good offence” speech is followed by a riddle quiz that the businessman Jeremiah answers effortlessly, mocking Ash’s wits. Zoey explains how Candice helped her secretly raise Glameow at the school as a child, and Candice becomes angry when Dawn admits she felt “relieved” after losing her last Contest.
During a tour, Team Rocket use Seviper’s Haze to set off the fire alarm and steal the stored Poké Balls. Jeremiah’s Skuntank is stopped by Carnivine’s Vine Whip, but Candice’s Abomasnow clears the smoke with Blizzard, and Buizel’s improved Ice Aqua Jet and Zoey’s Glameow send the trio flying. Piplup’s Whirlpool catches the Poké Balls, and Jeremiah apologises to Ash.
