Where No Togepi Has Gone Before! is the 37th episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 604th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 609, Bulbapedia code DP142). It first aired in Japan on 10 September 2009 and in the United States on 30 January 2010. It falls within the season’s South through Twinleaf Town stretch (EP134–EP142).
Synopsis
A mischievous Togepi takes over Team Rocket’s new tower, traps Ash and his friends, and launches the building into outer space. Posing as a Trainer Tower, the base bought with Team Rocket’s festival earnings drops Ash and Dawn into a cell, while a stowaway Togepi raids the trio’s food and blames an “evil Togepi” that teleported away.
Togepi frees the prisoners only to drop them into more pit traps, torments Team Rocket with Psychic, and uses Attract on Pikachu, Piplup, Croagunk and Meowth; only Jessie’s female Yanmega is immune. Brock works out that Togepi used Substitute rather than Teleport and is itself female. Then the tower transforms into a rocket, and Togepi launches it into orbit.
Rayquaza appears and fires Hyper Beam, knocking the ship back towards Earth. James takes the controls, Pikachu powers the emergency generators, Buneary cools the nose cone, and Grotle and Piplup steady the ship, but Togepi burns the parachute. At the last moment it lands the wreck gently with Psychic, promises to finish their fight later and strolls off laughing.
