An Egg Scramble! is the 38th episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 605th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 610, Bulbapedia code DP143). It first aired in Japan on 17 September 2009 and in the United States on 6 February 2010. It falls within the season’s Lyra & Khoury stretch (EP143–EP147).
Premiered on 6 February 2010, four days before the HeartGold & SoulSilver trading card expansion; the cropped standard-definition broadcast cut Cyndaquil’s Egg out of the picture.
Synopsis
At a Johto Festival, Ash and his friends meet the Johto Trainers Lyra and Khoury, and Dawn wins a Pokémon Egg that hatches into a Cyndaquil. Lyra’s Marill frees itself from between two buildings, and she leads the group to the festival, where her friend Khoury runs a Moomoo Milk stall and Brock improves the Pokémon food his picky Totodile refuses.
Lyra shows off the Johto first partners and challenges Dawn to a battle, her Chikorita against Piplup. Piplup wins despite its type disadvantage, and Dawn receives an Egg as her prize. Team Rocket steal the Egg and the festival food in their balloon, crash in a forest, and are chased by an angry Ursaring after Jessie upsets a Teddiursa.
James and Meowth recover the dropped Egg, but Khoury’s Totodile snatches it back, and Pikachu, Piplup, Marill and Totodile drive off the trio. Khoury’s father lets Lyra and Khoury travel with Ash’s group for a while, and that evening the Egg hatches into Dawn’s new Cyndaquil.

- “not bitter enough” becomes “too sweet”
- The Johto Festa becomes the Johto Festival
- The second half has almost all dub music
